Just Johnny-come-lately.

You obviously don't realize this just makes you look ignorant of your own conference's history.

Luckily, objective sources have a different take on LSU's tradition:

All Time Team Rankings

1 Alabama
2 Notre Dame (IN)
3 Southern California
4 Oklahoma
5 Michigan
6 Ohio St.
7 Texas
8 Nebraska
9 Louisiana St.
10 Tennessee
11 Georgia
12 Penn St.
13 Miami (FL)
14 Florida
15 Georgia Tech
16 Auburn (AL)

LINK

Alabama is 15-20-2 against the non-SEC top teams, LSU is 14-21-3. Not that much different.

A fan-made point system computer poll?

I see at least a dozen jobs below LSU that any coach would take before you.

I would guess third behind Alabama and Tennessee?

LSU has arguably already been third on the list (with UGA debatably 4th)... winning another NC would put them closer to catching Tennessee

Granted UT has a lot more wins but I'm sure the stats geeks have already pointed out in a variety of other categories LSU is very competitive compared to Tenn

This is a thread based on history boys and girls.

Alabama, Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Penn State, Oklahoma, Ohio State. These are the top jobs/programs in the nation. LSU is not there. Not yet. Miami came closer and sustained longer than LSU has so far.

A completely subjective fan-based opinion?

Your ignorance is astounding, I really thought Alabama fans were supposed to be knowledgeable about football.

Now, not so much.

You're really just looking more and more scared as you feel the need to denigrate LSU more and more for things not associated with this season.

Good luck making it to the BCSCG, I for one am hopinng OSU doesn't jump Bama next week.

It must suck to have to sit there and wonder if your team is going to make it or not. Luckily, LSU will be there win or lose this weekend.

Ahhhh you're one of those people who says LSU fans think college football started in the 2000's, themselves must think it started in the 90's if you think that's all LSU was pre Saban.

If we are talking about top jobs your list sucks

You left off Florida and included PSU and ND ahead of them

ND is maybe the all time best program in college football but they are not a top tier job when a coach like Urban Meyer passes over them to go to where you can win more easily (Florida)

And it is probably easier to win at LSU today than Alabama for that matter. Alabama is certainly the better program historically but LSU has a monopoly on great in state talent and Alabama does not

Were it not for the collapse of the late 1980s and 1990s LSU would easily have surpassed UGA's all time winning percentage to take 3rd place in the SEC.

Given UGA is good for winning 8 or more games a year--it will be a long time before they catch them.

Wow.

I'm really glad most LSU fans are not idiots. The majority of the ones that are seem to be in this thread. Please stay here.

Again, this is a thread that was made for arguing history. Not this 1 season. But thanks for reverting to true form when you get owned. What's next? 9-6?

Alabama fans have been after a rematch since the clock ran out. I wouldn't call that fear when someone is charging at you.

Why stop at seven?

You Alabama fans and your arbitrary cut-off points.

You implied that LSU came from having no tradition, comparing them to Miami.

LSU had won two conference championships before Alabama had won their first, and arguably won a NC before Alabama (at least if we counted them like Alabama does).

What exactly did Texas do before that though? They don't have a storied history plain and simple

Texas has 3 National Titles and much like LSU they have underacheived for a good portion of their history given their recruiting success. Lots of "choke" type games throughout their history much like LSU was plagued with Pre-Saban.

Texas WILL REMAIN the most desirable job in the country for the foreseeable future given its easy recruiting, easier schedule, endless coffers, etc.

No, but a large portion of your fanbase has an inflated historical impact assumption of LSU football based upon their accomplishments in the past decade

You honestly think a coach would take LSU before Penn State(pre-scandal)? Florida State?

Post less.

Princeton and Yale are powerhouses with this argument. If true.

FSU is a great job IMO but if they are a better job than LSU it isn't by much.

LSU is flat out a better job than PSU. Recruiting is just easier as the only major school in Louisiana than it is from Happy Vally.

ETA: and yeah, LSU is a better job than Alabama. It is easier to be the only major school in a talent rich state than to share your talent with Auburn

Yeah, LSU's only legitimate "no-claim" title is 1908, where they went 10-0 and dominated their schedule. They could also claim the pre-SEC conference titles. However, in that case, Arkansas can claim their 13 SWC titles and pump their little chests.

LSU just doesn't have UT's history yet. I would say us and UGA are on the same level, with Auburn right below. For the LSU-UGA pissing match, it really depends on what stats you find significant.
