Um, playing Ole Miss instead of a different (read: harder) perm west opponent every year? I think yall voted for perms.

keeping in mind, though, that I, unlike most fans on the Rant, can't actually speak for my university's administration, and nobody here will tell me how to earn that privilege.
I think that is one of those areas where its easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

Part (not all, just part) of LSU's fans' problem, I think, is they are a bit too proud of the "no rivalries" thing. They trivialize other rivalries while simultaneously getting whacked over the head by the fact that they don't have a "tradition" to protect on the same level as the TSIO or DSOR or even the intra-division rivalries like WLOCP, the Iron Bowl, or the Egg Bowl. In order to accommodate LSU fully, the program has to convince far too many people to raze their traditions without having much to offer in return, not even a "hey, we lose a rivalry too!"
Perfect analysis, I agree 100%. Once again you prove you are one of the most reasonable posters on tRant.

Frankly, I think the best bet for the program, and for the fans, is to open themselves up to the idea of developing a top-notch rivalry.
I agree and so does the SEC front office I think. In fact we Aggies and the SEC front office have the same potential rival in mind for LSU...

Go with your gut instinct.

For a Vandy fan, you're not too bright. Ever hear of Tulane or Ole Miss?
Don't blame LSU just because the Tigers ravage rivals' programs like Tennessee ravaged Vandy's.
Didn't Vandy start out like 20-0 in that series and now it's like 75-30?

if we were ever to screw over the SEC and go to the Big12 we would run that entire conference within 3 years.

LSU owns A&M....is that why you want us out the SEC?

Yeah just ask OU or Nebraska, the most successful football program in the Big 12 always runs that conference.
Oh wait...

You can argue that, though I should probably have phrased my comment differently: "We didn't have anything that we wanted that was as important to us as what LSU wants." I love my team, and am happy about our recent success. But I'm under no delusion that we'll ever be a perennial power on the level of the Big 6, so the difference between playing Ole Miss (which I think is a sleeping giant anyway) and LSU isn't as urgent for us as it might be for, say, Georgia or Florida. It's not likely to matter very much in the long run as far as our seasonal success goes.

I think that would make an excellent rivalry, myself. It would provide the perfect counterpart to Bama/Auburn to the east, with the Mississippis in the middle. Arkansas, unfortunately, will be left sucking hind teat in intra-division, but Missouri at least makes sense on an inter-division level.

Only because you expect the Big 12 to be run like the SEC- aka the most successful programs make the rules.
Yet the Big 12 is not run that way or it might still have 12 members today.
If anything your post shows how hard it would be for LSU fans to adjust to a non-SEC mentality.

I disagree. Yall have a chance to really step up in your state with continued success.

if we joined the Big12 teams would change to an SEC mentality.....or they would be forced out.

I really cannot tell if this is a troll/rustlin' thread or if it's serious.
