Ok, well I guess his hope is that the judges earlier rulings and actions will stand. Gotcha

Ummm...I think the DA's office has been on a pretty even keel about the matter. There exist a tape of him striking someone from behind...do you not think a new charge is appropriate?

Hill has already had his probation adjusted due to violation by the same judge at the onset of all this.
An arrest alone can trigger that...it seems that we are now at the point where a formal charge causes a formal revocation petition...

Damn, I am way over my head. I will just bow out and watch...

I am confused how there is any joyous news. The ADA is going to seek revocation of probation from prior. It doesn't hinge on felony or not. The way I understand it is Jeremy broke the conditions of his probation. The ADA feels it would be appropriate that Hill serve jail time. Am I missing something?
Most familiar with the judge and the situation feel that this motion is a formality, since the judge didn't automatically revoke his probation when she added terms to it previously.
Also, even if he is found in violation based on the new evidence presented, the judge can still choose to just add more terms, which is basically the worst case scenario here.
Had the DA's office found evidence sufficient for felony charges, then all that goes out the window. They didn't.

No, you're right. No suspension is the right penalty for a guy who beat the shite out of a dude in a bar while being on probation for being a sex criminal. Hell of a program yall got going on down there.

No upgrade in charges, no new evidence, no violations of new parameters+hes just an honest young man who is trying to make his way and was provoked into throwing one punch causing no injury.
Misses a half vs TCU max.

That's her job. She pretty much has to do that. Probably won't happen though.

I won't be prideful enough to say how it works down on the bayou...but it seems that some folks are jumping the gun from a procedural standpoint.
Hill was on probation. He gets arrested. He is brought in and his attorney does his song and dance..."Oh, he is a good little boy and this is all a big ol' misunderstanding and nothing will come out of this arrest, Your Honor." Judge bites and just yokes down a little on the conditions of his probation.
Now, Hill has been been formally charged. The prosecuting body is seeking to revoke.
Do I think anything will come of it? Nope. Is the new charge in the same vein as the old charge? Nope. Is it a crime of violence? Sure, but not...for a lack of better words...a big deal. No one was greviously injured at his hands and no weapon was present...shite like that. They'll get something worked out where he does a few days or something.
As far as the University is concerned...who fricking knows.

Is there a way to find out this judges stats on probation revocations and the typical penalties for the such?
We need a TD paralegal.

I don't buy into that as an absolute, but I get what you are saying.
NBama
Thank you for the insight. I also do not think this will amount to jail time, but it has been an interesting look at the justice system.

This whole shitty thread is just stupid. Probably nothing will come out of the legal end. What Miles wants to do............that's his decision, and he usually makes the right call on these things.

Somebody doesn't understand the difference between arrested and charged I see. Judges almost always side with the state.

I don't even care. This thread was started as a flame.

If we learned anything from Jefferson it's that it'll take Hill getting into serious trouble to not get to come back and play.
I'm guessing a couple of games.
