It’s wild that university dedicates more money to sports than improving their academics.
Most of it isn't coming from the University, but it benefits the University. Kinda cool that LSU investors have figured it out.

Both will be fired in two years...

The school spends like 900 million a year in their operating budget and the actual university spends barely anything on athletics

We heard the same thing about Jay Johnson, Orgeron and Joe Brady.

All this hinges on is Lane Kiffin being the best football coach in the SEC and accomplishing something no other SEC coach has yet in the NIL era - make the playoffs 2 years in a row AND make a deep run at least one of those times. Not Heupel, not Saban, not Smart, not Deboer, nor Kelly have been able to accomplish that since NIL really got rolling in 2022. All this plan requires is Kiffin being able to do what no one else in the SEC has been able to do.

That's a lot of money. But the administration at LSU understands that a winning athletic program, especially in football, directly correlates to the number of enrollment applications they receive each year.
LSU is currently 8th in the conference for total enrollment. I don't think they'll ever catch Texas or A&M, which are over 60,000 students, but they could surpass Georgia or Alabama. Especially since Georgia is so much more selective.
If LSU increased its enrollment by 10 to 15,000 students, that's a lot of revenue, even with the 95% or so that get some level of assistance.

Just to "make money", LSU needs over next two years to:(per Peter Burns):
CFB: 2 Playoff Bids, 1 Deep Run
MBB: 2 Tournament Bids, 1 Sweet 16 Run
WBB: At least 1 Final Four Run
BSB: 2 CWS bids, 1 Title Run
LSU doesn't need all 4 to hit, just 2/3 but Football HAS to be 1 of them. If you hit 2 of 3 those goals with Football, you'll bring in around $100M in direct sports revenue.
I caught this part. According to his post, for this to be profitable, in the first two years LSU needs.
Football: 2 CFP appearances with at least one multi win appearance.
Plus 2 of these 3.
MBB: make tourney both seasons with at least one sweet 16 run
BB: Make college world series both years, play in finals once
WBB: at least one final 4 run.

LSU and Georgia academics are certainly not the same. UGA’s admission rate is around 30%, where LSU is nearly 75%.

Time to triple your etouffe and gumbo sales in the state. Also tax the gators for free memberships for swimming in the bayou. Someone has to pay.
