Where are you getting these stats?

LINK

I just subtracted net punt yards from average punt yards. If I goofed it then I can adjust the numbers.

I'm going to guess your link has fair catches filtered out? LSU has punted more than 2 times this year so maybe those stats only show actual returns.

Fair catch would up the punt number without changing the total yards which leads to a smaller average.

You are gong to have to learn to express yourself better than this if you are going to be a stat guy.

In his defense, Townsend does have a longer punt compared to Von Rosenberg. 62 vs 56

Huh? It's very clear

Average is yards allowed/punt returns. If punts that are fair caught are included, the number of punt returns increases but the yards allowed does not. So it's the same numerator with a larger denominator which makes the average smaller.

LSU has punted 13 times, 8 of those downed inside the 20. They have a 45.3 avg with a long of 56.

They have blocked a punt for a TD and have also returned a punt for a TD.

based on what, exactly?

See our fake punt against Auburn. Gave them the momentum just to snatch it back. Brilliant!!!

I guess ESPN isn't reliable when it comes to punts inside the 20!

Any UF fan know the correct number for you guys and I'll update the stats? Thanks!
