My take on the Prude situation:
1) It was Saban's fault we were even in that situation. He's the one who couldn't scheme a way to stop Iowa's all-powerful passing attack (I say that facetiously, of course). He's the one who played three different QBs in that game. He's the one who couldn't figure out a way from stopping Iowa from getting into position to make that final play.
2) Ronnie Prude screwed up on the last play, but what good does it do to yell at the kid after the fact, when in actuality you are not the coach of the team anymore? Nothing is served. Saban was just being a dick. That is normal for him, because Saban is, by all accounts, a dick.

If he takes a shot at Arnaz I will go apeshit. I've been on the same field as that guy. Even drove the same color Rodeo in highschool. Minus the rims of course.

A lot of players hated/where afraid of Coach Bryant but also loved and respected him. Billy Neighbors said he talked "maybe twice" during his time as a player and would have crossed the street if he saw Bryant walking toward him on campus. Saban, and people like him tend to have the same dynamic. His players have a love/hate relationship with him (most hardasses are in this situation) but they will also run through a wall for him.

i think his style wares on people after a while. i think he is liked by his players overall, some players actually say that les's practices are harder than nick's.
the problem with nick saban is the black eye he puts on a program. he's an a-hole, he thinks everyone should bow down to whatever he says, the media, the fans, the president of the school, he just wares on people. and when he compared the loss to ul monroe to 9/11 and pearl harbor, it kinda summed up the reasons i wanted him out of br.
and personally, and im probably the only one in the state, but i dont like him as a coach. the only time he wins is when he has more talent then you. the rest of the time he underacheives.
2000 had talent, 2001 and 2002 had a lot of talent, and 04, by all accounts was probably a better team then 03.
no man who coaches major college football for 13 years, his teams finish in the top 5 twice, and in the top 10 only 5 times, giving him 8 years of finishes outside the top 10, and be the best coach in the nation. a nc when the other teams heisman trophy qb went out on the first drive, and split another one. he'll lose probably 3 or 4 games next year and lay under as a solid program until he throws together another good year.
but, keep him please. i'd rather phillup fulmer than nick saban. just my opinion.

I agree. when it comes down to it, having a coach with integrity that represents his school, team and athletic department with class and conveys respect to people around him is more important than winning football games. guys like Mack Brown and Joe Paterno come to mind.

"i don't like him as a coach. the only time he wins is when he has more talent then you." - 95% of the time that is the case with any coach. Saban did not have more talent than lsu the last 2 years (according to lsu fans) and still beat them. Didn't have more talent than Florida (according to everyone outside of Alabama) and beat them handily.

If lsu fans where honest they would just say that Saban is the best coach in college football and they are still mad years later that he is not their coach anymore. So much so that they are still obsessed with him.
