Many reason but one that is probably being overlooked:
Ticket prices and all the other stuff they nickel and dime fans for now, casual fans that used to cherish going to games have reached a "frick it" level of aggravation with the whole gameday experience at LSU. It's becoming a more and more corporate atmosphere where the people with tickets don't give two shits about what happens on the field. It's fricking sad.

extremely spoiled fan base. We don't get those butterflies anymore for anyone except Bama and maybe A&M because of JFF. Fans think of UF and Auburn as rent a wins.

The east side of the stadium was a serious death trap, many people in our section were passing out from the sun/heat. It just happened to be like 60 degrees during the week leading up till gameday then it was every bit of 90 degrees and it was a punch in the dick.

Just like the product on the field tailed off after Saban left, the quality of the fanbase has tailed off as well. Just took a little longer. Decline.
LSU fanbase can never decline as low as bamas fanbase exists today!
Just listen to Finebaum to get an example of Teabagers!

This is a big part of it as well. LSU has lost one home game since early October in 2009. LSU fans pretty much expect that LSU will A) blow out their opponent, and who wants to fight the weather and traffic for that, or B) play poorly and only win by a little bit, and who wants to fight the weather and traffic for that? Of course if C) happened, we really don't want to watch some other team win in our home stadium so once again, why fight the weather and traffic for that?
Those aren't my feelings, but I believe that a large number of empty seats are exactly for that.

We hate day games. Especially when it's 90 degrees with no clouds in the sky.

for the record... the game was a sellout.

I'm sure there was a thread about this, but what possible reason could LSU have for not filling up the stadium in their second biggest home game if the season against Florida last week?

quote:This is probably pretty true. I think while some have tried to falsely claim that our program was on the decline a very good argument can be made that our fan support is on the decline and that will only lead to program declinage in the near future. It is sad. I shudder to think how poor attendance would be if our teams was anywhere near as bad as the Hallman years. We still got 50-60 k in the stadium regularly then. If today's team was that bad we'd be doing good to crack 30k. T.S would be comparable to the Super Dome for Tulane games.
