25 years ago a concussion was called getting your bell rung and you stayed in the game.
Head injuries are a real concern. Lighting strikes are not.
Over the last 100+ years of football (high school, college, pro) how many times did you see charred bodies of players and fans in the stands due to lightening strikes?
It's an imaginary concern and just safety "theater"

i didn't see anything the first delay, but the rest of the night the lightning was constant

Seriously, dude. Do you have a legit link to the SEC offices telling LSU not to play the game? I'm genuinely curious. I sure can't.
It was reported from someone who covers LSU religiously. No blame to the SEC, as it was weather that shut the game down. However, it's an SEC game played in an SEC stadium, and it is under their jurisdiction.

What will hurt is all LSU players in contention for post season awards especially cumulative ones...
Yeah, tough luck. Cancellations happen.

If it had been a SEC game the league rules would have dictated. Since it was not, it was LSU's call and they pretty much deferred to the SEC rules.
Actually, no. The SEC has a vested interest in every home game played by an SEC team.

For the life of me, I cannot understand. How can fans of LSU blame Alabama, the REC, and the location of the SEC headquarters in Birmingham for the cancellation of this game?
I'm not fond of conspiracies, and I'm not blaming anyone but mother nature. Again, it is a home game played by an SEC team, and SEC HQ certainly has authority on the matter. Nothing to do with Alabama.
Can I repeat myself? I am not blaming Alabama. That's asinine.

The servers for tRant are thankful for the delay, they will have another week to prepare for the first meltdown.

Playing in a lightning storm is idiotic.its way more common than people like to think. Hell, we've been averaging about 1 person per year being hit by lightning at work:
Also, you have to deal with the legal consequences. An athletic department doesn't have shite to worry about with fans. The fans are there voluntarily and they can't be directed in that way. Staff on the othe hands must be warned about risk and they must demonstrate they are willing to forgo the risk to free the athletic deparmtent from liability.

I understand the rules and the game had to get delayed according to the rules, but what was the weather really like in Baton Rouge? Could that game have been played?
I was not in BR, but looking @ the radar it could not have kicked off before midnight. The risks of pulling an OSU-Tulsa situation were just too great. It sucks because now we have to open with back to back SEC west games, but cancelling the game was the right call.
