No, the DC has already prepared them and instructed them on how to adjust his players in various situations. The position coaches don't do this on their own.

I really dont care about LSU's overall offensive prowess because they torched us in 2013 and 2014 regardless. The reality is that A&M will almost certainly beat LSU if they only score 14 points, so whether or not that is an "impressive" feat is irrelevant to me. Chavis will have done what he was hired to do, and that is improve the defense enough to win games without our offense having to drop 35-40 every week.

The DC provides his adjustments for each week and relies on his staff to implement them with their units.

Again, most DCs, particularly in college, don't go from Dline to LBs to DBs and personally implement their adjustments. There just isn't enough time. They generally work with one unit, LBs for Chavis, and trust their position coaches to coach up their guys.

Yes they do

You are confusing coaching up/teaching technique with game planning and strategy

The DC is the DC for a reason

Reality is going to slap Chavis in the face once he doesn't have a ball control offense to hide his deficiencies anymore.

You could bring Vince Lombardi back from the dead to be your D/C, the simple fact is Texas A&M will never have a good defense as long as you're playing Sumlin ball.

No, but it's clear you don't understand how most DC's actually operate and manage their staffs.

Correct, to oversee his staff and ensure their relay the gameplan to their units effectively.

What are you talking about? Chavis is going to be happy not having to deal with an offense where the quarterback throws for 76 yards on 26 fricking attempts.

Chavis is damn glad to be gone from LSU.

Dealing with significant loss is something you're used to saying? Poe Ag

Most DCs sit in the booth and communicate through the headsets. The position coaches are the ones coaching the actual players throughout the game. Where Chavis earned his money was his ability to make adjustments to what the offense was doing. They worked more times than not. The problem was when he had breakdowns they were major breakdowns. Things like leaving the middle of the field open, not accounting for the RB out of the backfield, etc.

Until he yells into the headsets for someone to get the DBs to stop getting pushed around and the dline to stop getting manhandled up front.

A&M was 20th in defensive efficiency in 2012

I'm pretty sure he left LSU because of the dollar signs. Please don't act like A&M is some elite program in the national championship hunt every few years. Chavis has always benefited from great players and besides Von Miller and Myles Garrett, y'all haven't had one in 15+ years

Yeah, it was Les Miles' offense propping up the LSU program the last six years.

This has been thoroughly refuted with statistics multiple times on this very board.

Vince Lombardi was an offensive coordinator, he never coordinated a defense. Tom Landry was the defensive mastermind of the 50s Giants, not Lombardi.

Thanks for the shoutout, Rick!

As you are the prime example:
the sooner you reach "acceptance", the sooner you will be able to cope with Steele as your DC.

Don't live in that bubble too long now, ya'hear...
