After two mediocre seasons by us I don't know that any of our games will be too hyped until we can demonstrate on Saturday's that we're an elite team.

As of April 13th, I say Gators by 14. The only way I see us making up that difference would be on special teams and turnovers.

I mean think about it. If your defense is only half as good as it was last year and our O is twice as good as it was last year we score 12 pts. Can you beat that?

This game isn't getting the same hype as it normally would
That is because the last three matchups have included the defending national champs.

EDIT:
And the Mighty Gators by 6!

I can see LSU pulling this one out because Florida isn't really a power team anymore with Tebow gone and LSU's strength is probably it's secondary. Florida will have to figure out a new way to get all their speed backs the ball without the threat of the of the spread option run play. They will also have to find a way to pick up 3rd and shorts on a consistent basis without having Tebow. Now teams can play more man coverage without the threat of a scrambling qb in the backfield.

I have no idea how good Florida's defense is gonna be and how good LSU's offense is gonna be so I'm gonna say 24-21 LSU

Meyer has never had a "power team" at Florida. It's more finesse, or really smoke and mirrors.

I meant to say the really don't have that power option in their offense anymore.

So why do Gator fans think your '09 O never seemed to gel like the '08 O did? (Maybe it's perception on my part but the '08 O was about as good as it gets but '09 seemed underwhelming).

Plus only 2-3 recievers...it all goes back to Addazio. He did not use what he had and tried to force things too often.

Crowton makes Addazio look like Chris Peterson.

I had to think about that a little but I think I agree, to a degree.

I do think that a Crowton led LSU O/Addazio led UF O will have a hard time making it to Atlanta or the BCSNCG.

Yea I'm extremely curious to see how Florida's power game adapts without Tebow. Make no mistake about it, Florida operates out of a gun but they ran a substantial amount of power and veer plays out of the gun for Tebow. I'd expect to see a lot more of Moody to get some power running.

This is gonna be a very interesting game. We'll know a lot about each team by this point (LSU having played UNC, WVU and Tennessee with Florida having played Bama and Tennessee).

The key will no doubt be the QBs. I think both defenses have significant strengths that will be able to hinder the other offense's strength (LSU's DBs will make it look like Florida is playing without WRs and Florida will be extremely tough to run against).

Whichever team's QB plays better will almost assuredly win (like every game right haha). After seeing the spring game and knowing Crowton's history with QBs, I gotta think Brantley will win this battle so I'm leaning towards Florida.

The one thing I'd say is (at this point) LSU seems to have the wildcards in Peterson/Shep (I know it's early to crown him as a wildcard but his talent is obvious). These are Harvin/Jacobs-type players who can take any catch/punt/pick the distance and equalize the game. LSU's best chance is to hide Jefferson as much as possible and hope these guys make a play or two to equalize the game.

Florida's offense will be really diverse in 2010, both running the ball and passing.

The offense took a dip in 2010, but it was still top 10 in both scoring and total offense nationally.

The biggest difference between 08 and 09 was the Red zone offense, which was almost perfect in 08 but was near last in 09.

A lot of that was the reason why Gonzales left I think. The RZ offense was his baby in 2008, but after he got passed over for OC, the staff just didn't have the same magic it did the year before.

Addazio was also a first year OC, and I think you'll see a lot of improvement this year, esepcially since Loeffler finally has his "pure" passer that he was brought in for.

Also, UF had nobody that could play UF's slot/harvin position in the offense in 2009, but in 2010 they have 4 guys that can do it.

Chris Rainey and Andre Debose will strike fear into defenses from that position, opening things up for the WR on the perimeter and the run game.

Florida will have a big play offense in 2010.

And LSU might have a good secondary, but they won't shut down Florida going 4 wide next year with the WRs on that roster.

We won't light up their secondary either. I would expect a balanced run/pass attack as always especially if Gillislee proves to be our power back like he's shown this spring.

I think Brantley comes in a does a good job. I'm looking for good things from him this year.

Agree with that as well. Looking forward to see what Debose can do. He was the big recruit that came down to LSU and UF. This kid should be a good one.

Brandon James just wasn't versatile enough on offense to be effective as a receiver in the slot position. Consequently, UFs offense struggled mightily.

That won't be a problem in 2010.
