I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but even a simply country boy like myself can see the difference between a school that plays (5) ranked teams in a season vs a team that plays (0) so the Cards have a long history of playing weak schedules. It is a whole lot easier to be a 10-2 (last season) when you did not play (1) ranked team during the entire regular season.
Amazing that you responded in 2 separate posts about this post but never responded to the part in BOLD. Could it be that you can not face the facts and must try and twist something to fit what your mind will allow?
Last years Sugar Bowl drew what 54,000? When was the last year the Sugar Bowl drew such a low number. You must be so proud. Keep trolling and wonder why nobody takes UL (or their fans) seriously. You just reinforce the bad attitude that so many of your fellow Card fans exude. Your actions are most telling as to why the Cards will NEVER be an SEC school and why you will be relegated to the ACC football clown car.

Generally, the top teams played on New Year's Day in the four major postseason bowl games: the Rose Bowl (near Los Angeles at Pasadena), the Sugar Bowl (New Orleans), the Orange Bowl (Miami), and the Cotton Bowl (Dallas).
Sidestep the issue all you like but UK played in a major bowl in an era where there were not all these "everybody gets a ribbon" bowls.
Btw, no where in that copy and paste did it dispel the fact that bowl games were exhibitions that had no bearing on determining the national champion. Maryland was at least named in "various" sources as national champion. Kentucky on the other hand....

I guess that doesn't matter then considering we stomped a mudhole in the #3 team in the nation on national tv in the Sugar Bowl. Congrats on your tough schdule!!! The Sugar Bowl trophy looks wonderful in our case
We'll try to somehow console ourselves with the 3 NC's we have since then.

I don't mean to come across as a bad attitude. Why would I be angry?? We could be come the very first school in NCAA HISTORY to win a National basketball championship, a BCS bowl and make a CWS appearance with a win today or tomorrow night. We are THE hottest program in America. You must be reading my tone wrong. I am completely enjoying my time here.

Have y'all done this yet though?

Grits, you will never hear me say I enjoy our football schedule. Ever. You wont hear ANY UofL fan brag about it. It is what it is. We cant help if teams wont play us. Its actually a compliment. $EC teams don't want to play us because they already play in the top conference in America. Why Schedule another potential loss? Same with the others. We can only schedule the teams that will step up. We have one last year of suffering...then it will be over. We will go from the Rutgers, South Florida's and Cincinnati's to the Notre Dame's Florida State's, Miami's, Virginia Tech's and Clemson's of the world. And trust me, it cant come soon enough. Meanwhile we will still be playing in the top basketball and baseball conferences. Ill take it.

I liked their teams when Crum was there.

In case it has not occurred to you bowl games were invented to make more money. Read up on the beginnings of the Rose Bowl and the other early bowls if you like. Folks playing around New Years back then were top teams and while you keep avoiding the point the system changed to reflect the importance of the bowl games in the final rankings it does not change the fact that bowls are now incorporated in final rankings.
I guess if I were a Cards fan with no such history I would like to skew the discussion to fit my desires rather than acknowledge the system changed and has remained changed to reflect the post season. For a person so quick to play the race card you sure do go blind to changes made in sports when the old system no longer worked.
ps, I have worked with both Rick and Tubby on their charitable endeavors outside the confines of sports. I have spent time with both Tubby and Saul and never once heard UK fans use the N word around me when it involved Tubby at UK so I am unsure where you get your information from but I was actually there and can not confirm the claims you make.

NC14 Pitino will never take Crum's place as Louisville's all time favorite coach. Not even close. He was the best x's and o's coach in the game for his era. The man would score 95% of the time out of a timeout. Rarely failed. He just lost his recruiting when Wade Houston left. You can only do so much with 3 star talent. It was the beginning of the end for Denny after Houston went to Tennessee. In fact I would take Denny back in a heartbeat to this day if Pitino was recruiting. We'd have a dynasty on our hands.

You just are not getting it so maybe if I put it in CAPS it will get your attention.
TEAMS WILL NOT PLAY YOU BECAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE A BIG STADIUM AND A LARGE TRAVELING FAN BASE!
TEAMS ARE NOT "SCARED" OF YOU!
Alabama can sell out a game with Penn State or Michigan (home, away, or neutral) because they can sell out the venue. UL played in the Sugar Bowl and they only sold 54,000 tickets for the game. Do you not see the real issue here on why folks will not schedule the Cards? Top SEC schools play big time programs for ratings and at this point Card football is low demand. It is why I posted that the Big 12 and the Cards should have been in the same conference to promote their football product.
Instead the Cards (for whatever reason) went to the ACC where football takes a back seat. Florida State and Miami were at the top until the ACC went to 12 and neither have been heard from since. Do you think this is just coincidence? If you are a business guy you must see the handwriting on the wall of Card football going to the graveyard in the next few years. Do you really think the Cards will be in a big bowl once the new playoff system is in place? How is that working so far for TCU now that they have gone through the conference upgrade (and they can recruit TX)?

Cheese, I am a contractor that, on occasion, has to travel out into the state to bid jobs. I was bidding a job in Lebanon KY and spent over an hour with a group of guys to discuss a project we were about to begin excavation on. After logistics were discussed and finalized, the discussion took a turn when one of the guys noticed my Cardinal plate on the front of my truck. After a couple lighthearted jabs back and forth and laughing them off, one of them says...and I quote word for word..."Id do anything to have Pitino back instead of that "N" we have now." I was the ONLY one of a group of 5 that didn't crack as much as a smile.
I don't know what parts of the state you've been to, but I challenge you to visit the hills of Eastern KY and go 10 minutes without hearing that word like it's please and thank you. Its an entirely different world outside the city limits. Which is why I dread traveling out of it...unless its to leave the state or country on vacation that is.

Not only that, but some of us already have legitimate ooc opponents that we play annually (specifically UF with Florida State and USC with Clemson).

Oh really?? Is that so?? Hmmm that's strange. Because we HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL LURING TEAMS LIKE TENNESSEE, TEXAS, OHIO STATE, TEXAS A&M, VIRGINIA TECH, MIGHIGAN STATE, NC STATE, PENN STATE, AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON, back in the 90's when we played in a 35K seated run down DUMP that most HIGH SCHOOLS would be too embarrassed to step foot in. HMMMMMMM, NOW WHY IS THAT??! ARE MY CAPS GETTING MY POINT ACROSS ANY BETTER???? Prolly not. Have a seat sir. You are getting abused in this convo.

I have been all over the state and the N word has not been used in front of me. I know most of the big construction guys in the state (both road and building) and the N word has not come up. Maybe they are saying it when I am not there but I would be surprised. If some idiot holding the STOP sign on a road job says it, I would note that they did not have a degree from either UK or UL and their job status clearly indicates their credibility. Some bandwagon fans exist within each schools overall fan base. If you are an educated person with a college degree and a good job I am a bit surprised you pay any attention to them.
ps, I liked Crum and always felt bad in how that job switch went down (and not the sanitized version that was reported by the press)

Louisville sent 30K fans to the Sugar Bowl genius. They sent 35K to Miami for the Orange Bowl in 07. You want to blame the low attendance, look at Florida and the 7K tickets they sold of their 17K allotment. We outnumbered them 3-1 easily. I mean ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW???

You should probably calm down.

Trust me, had the contract not already been signed I would have gathered my equipment and pulled straight out of the site without hesitation. My hands were tied. I did however end the conversation and go on about my business. Pathetic excuses for human beings.
