Man, looking at that 1960 season highlights what an absolute joke college football rankings and championships have been for almost their entire existence.
1960 AP Poll
1. Minnesota
2. Ole Miss
3. Iowa
4. Navy
5. Missouri
Minnesota is the AP #1 and most widely recognized champions, yet they lost to #6 Washington in the Rose Bowl as well as a loss to unranked Purdue?!?
Ole Miss is the lesser recognized champion in 1960. They went undefeated. Yet they play unranked and 4th place Southwest Conference Rice in the Sugar Bowl to end their “championship” season?!?!?!?
Navy finishes with 2 losses including a loss in the Orange Bowl to Missouri, yet the final AP poll has them higher than Missouri?!?!?!?
Missouri goes undefeated and loses to Kansas in their final regular season game. One of the players on Kansas was ruled ineligible and they technically win the game after the fact. Makes sense they would claim the championship
It’s hard to understand how college football could be such a joke with rankings and postseason for so long. Very few seasons have ended with a true national champion. Historical AP poll data should be ignored

It wasn’t lost. It was discussed and buried with all of this LSU soap opera.
