The Pub at Gameday has become one of my favorite spots. It has a good beer selection and a good non-college crowd.
8Es can be hit or miss, but is usually a lot of fun on football weekends.
I also highly recommend GA Theatre Rooftop, Walkers and Trappeze.
Wherever you go, expect a shite ton of people to be there. When we get y'all at home, the game is always one of the biggest home games of the year and downtown is packed with people the night before and night of the game. I expect that game will be at night so I'd plan to just walk downtown and try to find something to eat or hit the bars right after it's over.

FYI Gatahata, if you are editing your original list, know that Al's Beef recently closed as well.
And let people know the Clocked, although a good burger joint, seems to always take no less than 45 minutes to serve your hamburger. It's not the kind of place you go for a "quick burger". I can only assume it's because they want to sell more beer, there's no way on Earth it takes that long to cook a hamburger. But, they are good. The best burger in Athens, however, is at Trappeze. The second best is at Farm255, which will be closed by football season, as has been noted.

Had a friend who'd always have me meet there. It really is a hidden gem.

Disagree; the best burger is the lamb burger at Royal Peasant in five points.

paper said coffee shop owners bought it. whycant they just leave it be? ownership changes in the biz all the time, why close a proven success to open up a risk.
The Farm owners were pretty close to the place and didn't want to have anyone else take it over. They were all so far away that they felt the best thing for them to do was the sell it.
I see what you're saying, but they didn't want to take the risk of someone else coming in and driving it into the ground.

Go by Magnolias at the corner of broad and jackson, typically there's a much older crowd there on game weekends since it's the closest to the stadium and the blue hairs aren't trying to walk any further.

WTF happened to JRs? What's their now?
I graduated 4 years ago but feel like only half the bars are still there anymore, if that.
