#1 texas and TAMU were in the SIAA but texas walked when they could not get their way. Tried to take Ole Miss and LSU with them but they were not having any of that. TAMU was a pretty small school in the middle of BFE so they had to go back and join the SWC. #3 When the B1G decided to join the modern world in 2006 and was looking to expand they only wanted texas and not TAMU. By 2009 the PAC had gotten motivated so a deal was made for schools the B1G would not acquire like Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri. (B1G and PAC wanted to kill the B12 competition in one fell swoop). The rest were packaged for the PAC but TAMU got a grassroots campaign going and the SEC sent an invite. Sooners got the other invite but wanted OSU along and Slive said NO! Missouri got smart and took the Sooners invite.
Strike 3 against texas, TAMU joined the SEC
Funny thing is neither the B1G or the PAC wanted TAMU in the SEC but that is where they landed and opened TX to the SEC while it remains locked for the B1G and PAC. Karma can be a cruel bitch.
Even funnier is the B1G never got Kansas or Notre Dame and the Irish added the final FU by heading to the ACC.
texas may some day get an invite but not until they learn to play together and share. As this seems unlikely, that invite is slim to none at this time.

Actually, Sarge, this is untrue
Nebraska had been trying to join the B1G since Ohio State got that spot Nebraska wanted around WWI. I think they tried at least once or twice more over the next 100 years before succeeding. The scuttlebutt was it was transmitted at a golf game during one of the bowls but not likely that story will ever make recorded history as it would be the smoking gun for interference between the B1G and B12.
B1G started the last round of realignment rolling at least back in 2006 but the report did not get leaked till a few years later.
I am guessing the PAC was vetting that deal for at least 2 years so that would put the PAC and texas in communication mode probably in 2008 or 2009. I have a feeling they did not let the other schools in TX know till maybe late 2009 or early 2010.

While texas destroyed the B12, they do not get there without undue influence from the B1G and PAC. Always was surprised the B1G never got sued or some schools did not go harder on B1G records for information. That could have been another NCAA vs Oklahoma type suit.
