Which means that Arkansas won seven more conference titles and thus played the highest level of competition in the Cotton Bowls. With the exception of the Nutt years, Arkansas has played tougher competition in bowls.

Yes both SWC and the Big 8 merged as the SWC couldn't survive from the probation era of the 80s. They would have dissolved had Texas and the Aggies joined Arkansas in 92 but politics kept them from going.
