That has to be the only way this happened. Surely this is just a blind squirrel finding that proverbial nut. After all A&M is just a bunch of yokels riding tractors in their overalls, right? Complacency is what will kill the “blue blood” arrogance.

Yes, are you implying many of those players from those championship team were not paid?
What NIL will do is create discord and jealousy among parents and athletes who are poorly prepared to handle it. That is not a knock on A&M. Every team will struggle dealing with it.
