Smart plays more conservative a lot like Saban coached but the results work and show on the field.

Some of his gambles drive me crazy! Like going for it on 4th and 1 against Alabama in the first game instead of taking the points. Going for it on 4th and short twice against Texas and then the onside kick.
I get it, though. He does not do it as often as Kiffin, for sure!

for most of the game it was the most aggressive I have seen Smart coach.
He seems to be getting more aggressive, for sure. I don't want Kiffin level aggressive, but some is a good thing.
In the past, he has seemed to go into a shell against Alabama...probably because of our lack of success against your team. It was good to see him relax a bit.

Smart will never leave UGA. Every resource he needs and at a place he played. UGA probably has the best fit of any program with their HC.
I do think fit is a huge key for a successful coach. One reason Kelly failed at LSU, Tome Hermand and Charlie Strong at Texas, Bellicheck at North Carolina, Freeze and Harsin at Auburn and so many more.

I also think DeBoer will turn out to be a good fit at Alabama. It took him a minute at Washington...and he will get the players in that fit him in the next year or so...then it should take off for him if y'all (not you, necessarily) can be patient. It's hard, almost impossible to follow up a Nick Saban.

No doubt, and we are no exception. I see "new" fans on here almost every time i come on here. Makes me wonder.

He's referencing a part of Kirby Smart's pump up speech to the team against Alabama. He was saying to drag them to the deep end and see who's head pops up, or something like that. More or less telling the team to keep the pressure up and slowly suffocate Alabama.

I went through a lot of those rah-rah speeches when I played. (Delivered some as a player) Now I watch them and roll my eyes. But, it is a means to pump up a team, I guess.

We have had more productive backs that Jam Miller out for multiple games. Also had most of the O Line out for a good chunk of the season.

During those times you never saw a - sign in front of our rushing yards or our QB sliding behind the line.

DeBoer needs to do better.

Congrats on Kirby Smart finally matches the record against Alabama that Hugh Freeze had.

One more win and Kirby will finally reach the heights of Gus Malzhan. I think Gus went 3-4 against Alabama so the win% will take about 5 more wins by Kirby to match.

Of course, unlike Kirby, these guys won when Alabama was elite.

Kirby is 1-2 against DeBoer in DeBoer's first 2 years.

But yeah, DeBoer needs to do better because Kirby managed to win one against a beat up Alabama.

It is sad bama is the only college team to ever have injuries. Maybe one day they’ll recruit at a level where they’ll have some depth.

this is gonna be like when Florida fans kept going back to 1990, as if what spurrier did against ray goff and jim donna had any relevance to the time period in question.

There's no shame in losing to the best coach in the history of the sport while commanding the greatest dynasty in the history of the sport.

The only one that actually matters would be 1-2, which is kinda meaningless really since both losses do deboar didn't mean a damn thing since we still won the SEC both years.

But hey, whatever distracts bama fans from the fact they have multiple losses 5 years in a row now and are going on the longest natty drought since the shula era.

Maybe one day Georgia can beat an Alabama team before they have a bunch of injuries.

As it is, Kirby has 2 wins and both of them came in rematches after getting embarrassed in the first game, only to win after Alabama sustained major injuries.

You even got mercy kneed at home this year.

He's referencing the training done to become a Navy Seal I think. They studied that this offseason. I don't know what the real stats are, but most guys quit (tap out) that try out to become one because they can't handle it.

It's your coach that is 2-7 against Alabama. If you want to go back over the past 17 or so years and include Richt, it's even worse.

Yep, well documented that UGA has never had an injured player while they played bama and any time UGA has beat bama the entire bama roster has been injured. Truly unfair.

You WERE great.
You ARE mid
You got taken to the woodshed. No championships since they gave you a pity Covid one so the country had something to do against a 6 win team.
2-4 losses every year now
Average at best

Yes, the less deeply talented team loses. This is how the game of football works. Always has, always will. Sometimes your starting 22 are more talented than your opponents. Usually that means you win. Sometimes you have some injuries and don't have the horses to keep up with your opponent, who most likely also has some injuries, but has more talented depth than you do...when that happens you usually lose. How soooooo many losers do not realize this simple fact is a mystery. Maybe your coach ought to do a better job at recruiting and developing players so when the inevitable happens and you have some injuries...it is a contact sport which is violent and played by violent men...you aren't less good than your opponent. Or maybe just bitch and whine and snivel...either way....

yes, which I mentioned a few short sentences later if you had kept reading.

Oh no, a big bad 2-1 record so scary!!

Those 2 for kaylen led to zero conference titles or any hardware of note, while kirby, despite the 1-2 record, has turned that into 2 SEC titles and a yet to be determined deep playoff run.

How will we ever recover

Your quarterback was sliding 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. That is the embodiment of the Tide under Deboer

Seriously, when that happened and he continued in the game anyone with anything other than air between their ears knew that not only was the game over but the decline is real and going to get far worse. That is about as big a pussy move as one can witness outside of pee wee football....
