I think Smart needs to prove himself somewhere without Saban. Anyone that think Saban isn't coaching that defense is being naive( yes gumps , I'm aware Saban has said it's Smart's defense)

Kirby Smart is calling the plays and making the adjustments. All you have to do is watch the sideline to know this
ETA: but yes, saban is making the philosophy and steering him in the right direction, otherwise he's just bobby bowden

I doubt Saban has zero input on play calling and Saban is the biggest micro manager in CFb, so no way he doesn't make adjustments. I'm not saying Smart sucks or that he is just a figurehead. If I had to bet, I'd bet he is a good to great dc , but no one knows yet.

Odds are Arky joins Big 12 before Gruden or any top coach comes to Arky. Poor recruiting base and limited talent on hand makes Arky a tough sell.

It's tough to recruit players for offense when you're in a conference with LSU.
LSU's high powered sophisticated offense just cherry picks the players across the country that they want on offense and then everyone else is left to pick up the crumbs. It's not fair.

Miles is an offensive genius. No one was scoring points with the guy that does the kick offs until Miles showed up to revolutionize the game.
