The hotels in East Memphis are really nice too. There's also some good restaurants down there as well

Midtown has the great bar scene on S Cooper as well.

The state of Mississippi can not host a predeterminied NCAA tournament like a SEC tournament because of our state flag. Thats why Trustmark Park is out of the discussion until we get a new flag.

I'm sorry but few people give a frick about baseball enough for the venue to change. If it was so popular then it would've been changed years ago like basketball has. Hell, even football went from Birmingham to Atlanta.

I don't know. Vanderbilt really plays well at Hoover. But if it is going to be rotated, I would vote for the Huntsville, AL ballpark which is even closer to Nashville. Huntsville ballpark would have to be improved first. I would not vote for Memphis because Ole Miss would have a definite home field advantage.

that could be said for any school in that area. It's not like Vanderbilt is that far from Memphis. Vandy would bring a shite ton of fans to Memphis. You would have more packed out games I believe.

And if it was moved to New Orleans, LSU would have home field. At Hoover the Alabama schools have home field. Any where you move it, a school will have home field advantage.

Memphis is not ruled by a single fan base. It's a smorgasbord of SEC fans.

Exactly! And all this home field advantage talk is bogus. Hasn't stopped the SEC from moving the SECBT to Nashville that puts 90% Kentucky fans in the seats.

Like you said, Memphis is full of SEC fans. I've seen a ton of Alabama fans in the area when I've gone. Same for Florida surprisingly.

Yeah, but nobody travels better than the Mississippi schools, especially when the games are in close proximity. Hoover has not turned out to be a home field advantage for the Alabama schools.

Year before last the we played KY in the SEC title game in New Orleans. We had approximately 200 fans in the house. KY had about 25k there. My point? KY travels good everywhere when it comes to basketball.

Out of the 5 schools that care most about baseball, prolly only Ole Miss and Arkansas are closer to Memphis. I would assume LSU and Starkville would be about the same, and USC is further. Plus like Memphisplaya said, there is no dominant fanbase in Memphis. I obviously would prefer Metairie, but that WOULD be majority LSU. Would sell plenty of tickets though. I think Memphis would be the best location, and I think ticket sales would go up too.
I would certainly make an effort to attend the tourney in Memphis, but then part of that is I want an excuse to go back, AND BBQ.

Sell that BBQ in the stadium during the games....and then you are really set. Last time I was at a game there, they were selling Rendezvous BBQ there.

I have always wanted to try Rendezvous. Either way bad BBQ in Memphis is better than most places.
