The point that LSU fans are trying to make is this is the amount of points we average PER GAME. It doesn't matter how we get them, we trend per game to get this many points.

And I'm not saying that points aren't important. Just that they include the influence of defense and special teams.

quote:

Nobody is trying to argue that we are as great an offense as you. What we are saying is this isn't last years offensive team, and our offense, (with the help of our opportunistic defense occaisionally), score almost as many points as you do every game.

I've been very impressed by LSU's offense, actually, in the little time I've been able to watch (as I've already said in this thread).

I do think we would score significantly more points if we had your defense, though. I know we'd get a lot more time with the ball.

quote:

This Stat is a bad sign for your team this year when you factor in our better than typical LSU defense it is a very bad sign for your team. That's all we were trying to say. Everybody knows you have a great passing game. Too bad for you your team doesn't have more balence on both sides of the ball or you might have a better chance of success this year.

Balance has been getting better, but still not where it was last year. Wish Knile was healthy. Wish DJ hadn't missed so much time this year. But if there's a time to find some semblance of a running game it's now. And it's getting better.

i'd also like to point out that LSU plays 60 minutes of football...and extra if need be.

a concept that Petrino has yet to grasp

That's why people are so impressed by long scoring drives that cover a lot of distance. It takes incredible execution.

I agree that long drives are a testament to the execution abilities of an Offense but as I mentioned before - long drives by themselves are useless if they don't culminate in points (preferably TDs).

Yep. And, as bad as Arkansas' defense is, they are pretty stout in the red zone.

Before the Bama game - LSU O was second in nation in Red Zone efficiency - just a point behind stanford

If we play like we did against USC then we will be fine. Just a matter of turning people loose on the QB instead of hesitantly holding up runnings lanes.

I fully expect us to hold up when Jefferson is in the game to try to keep him from running. Lee will probably see much more movement from the front 7 in terms of stunts/blitzes.

If I was LSU, I'd give Jefferson at least half the snaps...including about 20 QB draws.

Fwiw...Tyler Wilson's backup better be ready to come in at a moments notice....Jes figuring that we will pound the QB more better harder than Bama did.

Brandon Mitchell is a bad arse, so while there'd be a drop off...it wouldn't end the game.

But considering how tough Tyler Wilson is, I don't see him leaving.

When the Bama O collapses it is on McElwain, but ultimately Saban- similarly when R-kansas D does it is ultimately on Petrino.

The majority of your arguments in this thread have been painfully, painfully stupid. I'm not going to break them down because I don't have the time, but I sincerely hope that homerism is clouding your judgement.

Fixed.

Yeah, you're right. Bobby Petrino sucks at developing QBs. And, lord knows, it would suck if we had to bring in a freak athlete who can buy time against an incredibly fast defense.

LSU doesn't skip a beat when you lose a defensive player. Arkansas would miss a beat without TW, but it's not like Bama losing McCarron. Mitchell is a stud. I think we're allowed to have a few too.

Agreed and Ryan Malettes last pass as a Razorback validates this claim, We are making progress now.

Another observation I would make reflecting on the season Arkansas has had so far this year ya'll seem to play great as a home team and terrible as a road/early start team.

Normally I would count that to Arky's advantage when playing a LSU team because we typically play better at night, but this year I think that gives LSU a distinct advantage being an early starting road game for Arky.

If this game was in WMR I would give Arky a fairly decent chance to pull the upset but playing in Death Valley is not gonna be a good thing for you if the rest of the season so far is any indication.
