I disagree that Bama's talent was at the bottom of the SEC when Saban arrived. I'd say it was middle of the pack, and it wasn't being properly coached prior to his arrival. A good many of the core leaders on that 09 championship team were Shula holdovers. McElroy, Arenas, Zo, Deaderick, Johnson, Woodall,Anders, etc.

The biggest thing he did, other than upgrading the talent level, was completely change the attitude of the program from the inside out.

Compare Saban's record at MSU to his record at LSU.

Then compare Saban's record at Miami to his record at Alabama.

Yes, he resurrected both programs. Of course.

But both programs helped him immensely.

He was not on top of the world at MSU or Miami.

That happened for him at LSU and Alabama.

Both are places where if you can string a few games together you can recruit like crazy and dominate most of your competition with talent.

Being a champion is a way of life to Saban and his players, coaches, fans, organization and everything else that is associated with Bama football. He made a sweeping change of the whole damn thing. Bama is now considered the top CFB program in the country.

Anyone that thinks Saban is not the best CFB coach of this era needs to answer one question honestly. If you could have him over your coach would you take him right now? If not, then all I have to say is enjoy the illusion. If you are unfortunate enough to play us then maybe you'll see what I'm talking about.

Now the shite is getting deep....the tree killer is considered a champion of what? tree killing? The fan who placed his testicles on another man's face is a champion?

LSU won a national championship in 2003. Nick Saban was the coach. The fact he now coaches Alabama doesn't mean the 2003 NC somehow gets morphed over into the Alabama column. Stuff like that is how numbers of national championships get puffed up to 14.

I didn't intend to imply that, but if that's how you took it so be it.

Do you really think coaching in the NFL is the same as college? As an LSU fan posted, Saban deserves alot of credit for LSU because he is the reason LSUs facilities are top notch. Yes Dinardo brought in a couple great recruits but not near as many that is being brought in today.

At Bama, he didn't have to do much as Mal Moore had already taken care of our facilities.

No one has claimed this. Alabama doesn't need your whopping 3 poll-era NCs to have the most poll-era NCs of any school.

Saban absolutley built LSU. He changed the mentality of the fanbase and raised expectations. I remember as a kid getting excited about the possibility of just making a bowl. (Thank you Curley Hallman)

But you are a fricking retard if you think Saban is still sustaining LSU. There are numerous coaches who have flat out failed after taking over for a successful coach. Miles has done an excellent job maintaining the LSU program.

No doubt Saban made LSU into a powerhouse, but DiNardo began the upward trend for the Tigers and left some pretty good talent here for Saban. Not great, but good talent.

Some could argue that by Saban going to Bama he was taking the easy road to rebuilding a program.

By that logic one could argue Bear Bryant himself arrived in an ideal situation. After all, Alabama was already a national brand before he got there, aided along by the Rose Bowl teams of Wallace Wade and Frank Thomas - coaches who are presently enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame.

GOD forbid the unfortunate soul that has to replace Saban in a few years at Bama.

Last I checked the state of Alabama has two Div I football powerhouses, who are also rivals that compete for recruits every year. Who does LSU compete against for recruits, Nicholls State?

Hell, I remember stupid Coonasses on this board making claims that Saban would never reach the same levels of success that he had at LSU at Alabama, simply because he couldn't recruit as well. Yet, he has.

Imagine if Saban had stayed at LSU - talk about the easy way out. I bet that even the biggest retarded game day coach in college football could recruit well at LSU, oh wait...
