I was in DFW making a connection last year and saw a sigh that said a place was one of the "50 Best BBQ Joints In Texas."

Made me realize that Texas is just fricking huge and had a lot of BBQ joints if top 50 is something to advertise to get people to stop by.

DFW has chains. It is an urban center. Go down to central Texas and the hill country, especially Lockhart.

Fact of the matter is that if any of these BBQ joints want to compete or be judged, they're being judged by Kansas City BBQ experts. Or Memphis, if they're into being showy. May be good, but still held to our standard.

Because no one else is used to eating beef like Texans. The opinions on brisket between Dixie, and Missouri, are irrelevant.

It was embarrassing how long it took them to defeat the South given the gigantic advantages that they had. Virtually unlimited manpower, vast industrial development, and they could barely contain a bunch of brave Southern men.
it took so long because of the posture of the union army at the start. They wanted to fight a war of attrition. Had they been more aggressive, more shermans march and less anaconda plan, the war would have been over much sooner

No doubt they look down their noses at the rest of the schools and the south in general. And use the tired "well, football is all you have" argument when their team gets their skulls dragged. It might be true if the south didn't have outstanding universities with most having high graduation rates.

and for frick's sake, the Civil War is over.

Hicks and hillbillies educating other hicks and hillbillies will generally produce higher graduation rates.

We don't look down on you for that, but rather for being hicks and hillbillies altogether.
