It's really not surprising at all. He underachieved at LSU and that's a fact that every AD knows. It was time for him to go, plain and simple. He did alot for LSU though, and I respect him and will always wish him the best.

We can believe LSU got rid of him. We can’t believe who they hired to replace him, and that by losing to Troy, said replacement convinced the entire fanbase that a 9 win season is now a celebratory accomplishment.

Least talented Bama team since 1971. And he managed to take that team full of 2* and 3* players and take eventual national champion LSU down to the wire, took Top 5 UGA to overtime, and somehow managed to avoid a losing season - something his predecessor had only been able to do once in the previous 4 years.

Saban went 6-6 in his first year at Bama, lost to ULM and some gump tried to throw a brick through a window.
