I think he is a great recruiter and motivater but I don't trust his X's and O's completely.

He's a good coach and I hope he stays at LSU for a long time.

He's an enigma. Nothing about him, other than his W-L record would make you think he is a good coach. However, W and Ls and championships are what matter, so it is hard to argue with his success.
Thus, in my mind, he is extremely lucky, but I can't really argue with a fan that wants to defend him.

How do you suppose we judge coaches if not by how many games they win?

I think alot of our offense problems have to do more with his coaching than Crowton. I feel like he had more control over the offense than Crowton. I guess we'll figure out this year if that is the case or not. Hopefully we're done with the short side option. Also hoping to take more shots downfield. I also feel like we don't have a true identity on offense. Yes I know we are a run-oriented team, but so many different formations.

Obviously a good recruiter. And a good coach to have the record he does in SEC play. There have been a few instances that he could be called lucky, but he got them in the position that one break gave them the win.So it's hard to call that all luck.

The multiple formations was 100% a Crowton trait. Not to mention we haven't had the QB to take shot down field. We started to have an identity when Les got his hands dirty. We're always going to be a run the ball downhill offense with Les. The silly thing is it's been working pretty well.

Also, there are several ways to judge a coach other than win loss record. Coaching ability is only a small part of wins and losses. There are plenty of coaches that do more with less talent. Ws and Ls are probably the most objective way to judge, but not necessarily the most accurate.

Not in anyway a bad coach, he dont beat on players ( Leach Pelini Mangino). Has a great record. Four 11+ win seasons, brings in great players and after this season we'll see how good of coaches he hires.
Luck? Yes
Luck? Yes

I'll also add that Les should've been coach of the fricking year the last year to get double digit wins with Jefferson at QB.

I can measure a teams success against its expectations to see how much they exceeded or fell short of expectations.
I can watch games and see how the coach performs when making key tactical decisions.

Good coach. Makes some gutsy calls. See 2007.

Which Les has a pretty good track record of doing.

Expectations aren't really a coaches problem.

Les has been money on some days and a goat on others. That goes for every coach that has ever coached the game of football.

Or see every year he's been here. In his first year when our game with ASU got moved out west because of Katrina, dude called a fake punt, AND IT WORKED, inside our own 20yd line. We knew then he was off his fricking rocker.
