Is this the first time the SEC has won the Director's Cup?

North Carolina won the first one Stanford then won the next 25 in a row and Texas has won 4 of the last 5 with Stanford winning their 26th in 2023.

Florida came in 2nd a bunch of times and Georgia has come in 2nd once that was as close as the SEC had gotten prior.

I’m one of the few here who is not a FOG.

I’ve been a huge football fan for over 50 years. I played football from age 6 to high school but also baseball, wrestling and track. I love sports and competition in general and follow pretty much every Bama sports team, men and women. I want us to win every fvkn thing and I hope our AD feels the same.

For the life of me I don’t get people who discount minor sports like track, gymnastics, swimming/diving, golf, etc. I’ve heard people post shite here like “How hard is it to coach track? Just tell them to run fast.” The ignorance is mind blowing. There are 21 different events in college track & field with technical aspects you couldn’t coach in your dreams.

I know they’re not as popular but if you can’t appreciate hard work and excellence in something outside your favorite sport you’re an idiot.

So I am guessing everyone on here is saying that Texas has this thing wrapped up, but has anyone looked at the standings on the website? They have Stanford with an insurmountable lead with only T&F and baseball to go. Are their numbers wrong?

Stanford 1,532.00
UNC 1,218.25
Texas 1,161.00

You are 100% spot on.
Ever tried pole vaulting? It's a combination of strength, speed, and gymnastics. You have to be an extraordinary athlete to jump 19-20 feet. Try running a 10,000 meter race in 27 minutes. If you can't appreciate the athletes who perform at the top of their sport, whatever it is, then you're not a true sports fan.

I think that might be inclusive of all sports, not just the 19 sports used for scoring. Most teams don't have that many sports, so they are all used for scoring. Stanford has way more than that.

It is pretty stupid if that is the case.

Yessir.

Full transparency: I’m a little biased. I was a head HS track & field coach at a 5A school in Alabama from 2006-2010. Best finish was my girls team with a 6th at state. Had All-State kids (Top 3 finishers) in several distance events, 4x800 relay, high jump and discus.

I had 2 assistants - both volunteers - one for vault and one for throws. I coached everything else. Training a miler vs a 110 hurdler vs a clean 4x100 baton exchange are completely different animals. It’s not easy.

Texas won according to SI but I haven't done the math and don't care enough to do so

My dad was a college track coach in the 1960s and 70s. I wish he was still around so I could ask him, but I remember him having no more than a couple of assistant coaches. When I ran college track in the late 70s and 80s, our head coach had a sprint coach and a grad assistant coaching distance runners.
When did you coach and what got you interested? My dad played JV basketball in college but never made varsity so he switched to track.

There are 4 college sports that matter to me in this order:

Football
Baseball
Basketball
Golf

Couldn’t care less about any of the others. Especially women’s sports.
