This is absolutely the best hire given the current landscape and where we're trying to take the program.
Unless Saban decides he wants to MAFGA, you have to leap at someone like Fisher. We've tried the "snag a promising up and comer" route several times, with mixed results. Mostly bad. Time to swing for the fences.

Kirk Ferentz. he has just 6 sub 5 loss seasons in 19 years as Iowa coach (3 of them coming from 2002-2004) and just signed another extension last year for 4.5 million/year through 2026. The guy has milked so much off conference titles he won 14 years ago. It's honestly amazing.

Realistically, the best you can hope for is 9 or more wins a year. The big thing about Fisher is he should be able to really go head to head on some of these recruiting battles we've been losing, and raise the talent level.
That happens, and A&M will be better off. Just keep building the talent level and infrastructure, and the rest will come. He's also a real coach, whereas Sumlin was more like a CEO.
