The top four conference champs do - of any conference. MWC's leader, BSU, is higher ranked than the Big 12 leader, ASU.

The committee has an agenda.

South Carolina is playing some of the best football in the country right now.

They're getting screwed.

It is actually the top five conference champions get a bid, and of those five, the top four get byes.

Who should be ranked 11 in your opinion?

Good clarification. I was thinking of just the bye.

So by this metric both Ole Miss & S. Carolina are home and dry. Better luck next year

Thank you. I think my original question was a bit vague. I meant to ask if the Mountain West champion got an automatic bid to the playoffs.

That was before the rankings came out, but you are correct. Oh well. Still a great season for us.

SEC: Texas vs Georgia

I think these two just flip positions if Georgia wins.

Big Ten: Oregon vs Penn State

Ditto.

ACC: SMU vs Clemson

If Clemson wins they swap with Arizona State. SMU probably falls off unless it's a very narrow loss.

Big 12: Arizona State vs Iowa State

Iowa State is definitely the last seed if they win.

Mountain West: Boise State vs UNLV

Unless UNLV wins.

If UNLV wins, the Arizona St / Iowa St winner gets a bye.

Ugh.

I think it would be crazy to drop Texas below teams that don't play this weekend, especially if the game is close

I think that would only put them behind Notre Dame. I’m just banking on the committee’s laziness.

yep...I confused playoff seeding with ranking, which would be different.
