Yep
Well, in fairness Bama's staff lacked confidence in A.J. until about halfway thru last season.
They let him throw after the half last year at TN when Bama was tied at 6-6, and he responded magnificently to the stacked box.
Mett has a gun and can really sling it, but the game must still be too fast for him. I do know that he looks hopelessly slow when he tries to move in the pocket.
I just think they should work some short, quick routes for him on the early downs to help with his confidence.

That's usually what we do because those are the only throws he can consistently make. But they get old really quick, and usually after 4 or 5 slants in a row, the defense takes advantage. Like USC did on their interception.
We don't handcuff him as much as the rant thinks Les does. The WRs are pretty meh, and on the rare occasions they do get some separation, Mett overthrows them.

Who said that? I apologize if it was a bama fan. That is just stupid. Either that, or you have went full derp.

I just did a simple google search of "Bama revenge games secrant.com" and found this gem.

It's going on 3 years old but it's still pretty comical when Bama fans on here laugh off the "revenge factor" advantage that other fans bring up. Especially with long well-thought posts like this
quote:
Because you wouldn't count every loss in the loss column for revenge games. He lost to Auburn in 2000, and beat them in 2001 as a "revenge" game. He lost in 2002, and beat Auburn in 2003 as a "revenge" game. He lost in 2004, but wasn't there in 2005 to have a "revenge" game. The same goes for the Arkansas series, while Saban was at LSU. He lost to the Hogs in 2000, and won in 2001 in a "revenge" game. He lost in 2002, and won in 2003 as a "revenge" game. The Florida series brought a loss in 2000 and 2001, so the "revenge" didn't come that that time. He got it in 2002 winning 36-7. He lost in 2003, and got his "revenge" in The Swamp in 2004. As for UAB, he never got the chance for a "revenge" game, as you said. So, the numbers do "jive". His one loss in a "revenge" game came in 2001 to Florida, in Steve Spurrier's last season in Gainesville.

Different philosophies but LSU TEs have 4 catches, Bama's have 17. No LSU back has more than 5 catches, Bama's Lacy and Yeldon have 10 and 9.
It seems like almost all LSU's passes are targeted to its WRs, and Bama does a much better job of both targeting and checking down to its TEs and RBs.
LSU's offense lacks creativity. Les seems to be content to bludgeon teams to death. I must confess it seems to work most of the time.
However, it did not work against FL this year or against Bama in the BCSCG.

So you agree that the "revenge factor argument" is retarded?

Do I believe pulling up a coach's record in past "revenge games" and stating that it's an advantage is retarded? Yes.
Do I believe a player having a revenge mentality while staying focused and doing their job on the field is retarded? Nope.

Pretty much
If you have the talent and players, it works against anyone that doesn't have a good defense. We saw it destroy everyone in our path last year with the exception of georgia and bama, go figure.
With our losses on the OL this year, it hasn't been as easy. In which case, you have to adapt and be more creative. Running the same 4 plays 90% of the time isn't going to work when you're undermanned or facing a team that can match your talent on the defensive side of the ball. We saw this a little bit more in the A&M game as evidenced by Mett throwing 29 times. But you have to execute and complete the passes when you have open receivers. And we didn't.

At the end of the year, losing those linemen may actually turn out to be a blessing, if it forces them open up the offense and be more creative.
I think your running attack will only be enhanced if you throw more on the early downs, and to all eligible receivers.
Les does know that the TE is eligible doesn't he.

Shouldn't they already be focused on doing their job without having to get their arse kicked first? Maybe it was Leslie's plan to get shutout last January so they will be pumped and focused for this game. A good team already has a focused mentality, no need for revenge magic.

Still do not understand why LSU doesn't get our TE's and RB's involved in the passing game more.....it's just mind-boggling

January 9th is NOT the correct proxy for this game coming up. The mulligan game with 2 months to prepare is quite a bit different than a regular season game with 4 days to prepare. Miles is 3 - 2 versus the almighty Saban in regular season games and every game has been close. I would expect the same. You Gumps can keep referencing 01/09 all you want, but it is not a very good comparison for the game coming up. BTW, LSU had some pretty bad / similar offenses in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
2007 @ BDS = 41 - 34 LSU
2008 @ TS = 27 - 21OT Gumps
2009 @ BDS = 24 - 15 Gumps
2010 @ TS = 24 - 21 LSU
2011 @ BDS = 9 - 6OT LSU
2007 @ BDS = 41 - 34 LSU
2008 @ TS = 27 - 21OT Gumps
2009 @ BDS = 24 - 15 Gumps
2010 @ TS = 24 - 21 LSU
2011 @ BDS = 9 - 6OT LSU

B/C they use them to block, but I agree one of the two needs to help with the blocking while one goes out for a pass. or chip a D lineman and then go out for a pass
