Yeah Texas and Oklahoma and the Big 12 really suffered for it the last couple of years.

That's because it was Oklahoma. No one expects anything out of them in title games.

Yet, they were playing for another just this past year. It wouldn't have hurt the SEC if Auburn had played in that game. Hell, with the D they had, they might coulda pulled it out, then the SEC would have 6 NC's in the last 10 years, with 4 different teams.

I would have like to have seen it.....but it would have been a tough defensive game for AU, that's for sure. Once TT went conservative in the Sugar Bowl and the defense had to stay on the field longer, VA Tech took advantage of the same misdirection plays that fooled AU against UT in the SEC Championship Game (AU's D always had a tendency to over-pursue with its speed). USC would have probably exposed the same thing, so AU would have had to keep the foot on the gas on offense.

I agree. I think Auburn could have actually beaten USC. I think they were very overhyped and so was OU.

People think the SEC is so rough and bad arse because of the NCG dominance.

If Auburn makes that game and loses, which they would have, (USC has just as good of a defense as Auburn and a much better offense) the SEC doesn't have nearly the same amount of respect that they do now.

I'd disagree. Having any SEC team in a NC game win or lose, will not diminish or cause anyone to lose respect. Only repeated losses, like OSU, will do that.

Miss State has beaten Alabama twice in the last 3 seasons. Last year was Ole Miss' first win over LSU since 2001.

Not exactly....you forget that AU was firing on all cylinders that year with 3 offensive first round draft choices (a 4th was from the D). Both USC and AU were averaging over 400 yds per game, and in fact AU had a more productive rushing attack in terms of yds per game. I think it could have been an offensive feast like the Texas - USC Rose Bowl game.

and I wasn't responding to you when I made the post about Miss State. I didn't say nor think you said Ole Miss owned LSU.
