volscoors: you seem to really be excited that UF did not beat you that bad and that is okay, I am sure you have been a loyal and proud Vol fan for a long time and you are really excited about your new brash and promising young coach who got fired from his last job.
But remember this. Last year a team by the name of Ole Miss came to Gainesville, against all odds and BEAT us fair and square. They made it happen.
That W will be on their record books forever.
20 years from now when you are still a loyal and true Vol fan your loss to us will be an L in the record books and no one will ever care how close you came to beating us.Sorry.

They have won 18 of 24 and 5 in a row in the series.

congrats you didn't get killed. I suppose that is a good feeling after last year.
Was the moral victory against WY-freaking-OMING as tasty as this one?

I hate Kiffin but in this case he is right. I wanted Fla to hang 60 pts on Tenn and I am sure Meyer did too!! He told Tebow to save some time outs, for that VERY purpose! Yet he couldnt get it done. Meyer pulled a Ricky-Jean...

This. Florida fans will reply back with "sure is sad that Tenn has to settle for moral victories." And maybe that is true. But it isn't responsive to the actual point: Fla fans thought Fla could beat Tenn by 60. They couldn't. They know that UT is closing the gap.

I have no problem with the way kiffin is running the program. I knew we wouldn't beat the gators but we lose the worst QB that UT has ever had. While the Gators lose the best QB that they will ever have. Our coaching staff will have UT back on top.U have to give the man time to get his players in here and the players are coming!

I dont think that so much as I think Fla aint all that this year without Harvin and Murphy to stretch the field. I think old man Kiffin did a great job as expected but Fla isnt winning a crystal football this year.

I agree. There's no way that Urban can convince me that their game strategy was based on UT not trying to win. Florida couldn't run up the score in the first half either.
Tennessee was able to set the pace for the game on both sides of the ball.
Any team that relies on defense to win wants to shorten the game and keep the score close.
That strategy is nothing new.
fwiw, UT's last drive was nine plays. Six of those nine plays were passes, that includes the one Crompton threw into the bleachers that everyone wonders why it wasn't a grounding penalty and the interception.
If anything, UT should have continued to run. Their one TD drive was less than four minutes starting on their own 35+/-. Passing (or lack of) is what got them beat, not the run game.
Urban was making excuses for his team's poor performance, or UT's better than expected performance whatever the case was.

Bobby Ray, I don't know of very many rational fans that thought we would be Monte by 60 points.
Your defense played great against the pass. Monte was not going to get beat with the long play.

By letting us rush for a bit over 200 yards???
I give Monte credit for keeping the passing game limited but we all know that was because of the flu.
(need a tongue in cheek emoticon)

Common bobbyray. Don't be so down on your program. The gap is not that big. In our last five wins in a row we only beat you by an average of a little under two touchdowns and a field goal.
Were you not the SEC East Champions just a short 2 years ago?
You act like you have been cellar dwellers for the past fifty years. UT has been a pretty good little football team recently.
Show some support would ya!

Forcing the rushing game, yes. I doubt Monte, at any point said. "Let's give up xxx yards.."
Force the run and hope/play for turnovers.
Florida put the ball on the ground six times (IIRC) against Troy losing three - I think.
Florida played UT's game and won. There was really no reason to try and make excuses - except for all of the unreal expectations going into the game.
oh.. and the flu..
