Yes he did and got trashed for it. However, he learned from it and for the first time under Bobo they truly became a run first team.

Fat boner, any offense with a pulse could score at will against us at the end of the season. Real genius it takes to throw it to a Heisman contender matched up against one of the worst defensive backs to ever play in the SEC.
His performances against Ole Miss, Arkansas, and LSU were embarrassing. More games scoring 14 or fewer offensive points in regulation than in the previous five seasons combined.
His refusal to run the ball against Ohio State is also what cost you a national championship.
