Yeah he really impressed me with that 7-6 record and buttfricking in the bowl game his only year here. He would've been a good coach, but not that good
Look what he is doing at USC. I mean granted USC is a better program than Tennessee at every level, but UT still has some pretty good resources, a great coach with some resources won't always get it done, but there is still a pretty good chance.

Anyone can coach at USC and win...the place recruits itself.

That simply isn't true.

correct. top 3 jobs in college football are USC, Texas and Florida imo because of all the talent.

The younger crowd likes Lane Kiffin because he relates well to people my age and has swag. Why do you think he recruits so well? He can get younger people to buy in.
The older crowd who has seen Bill Battle as head coach and has seen UT in rebuild mode before understands the situation.
I'm 21, and some of my friends think Kiffin was going to take UT to new levels. I'm one of the few people my age that didn't like Kiffin when he was here.

USC was able to redshirt 16 freshmen last year. That is more than UT in the past 2 years combined. They have a total of 30 scholarship juniors and seniors. He is still using a lot of Carrol's recruits. It is way to early to judge.
USC scholarship count

I'm 21 and I understand that Fulmer really hurt the program in his last couple years of not recruiting and then Kiffin came in and dug us into a deeper hole. This is the first year that UT has been at full strength in almost half a decade

Anyone who halfway knows what they are doing can coach and win at places like USC, Texas, Florida, and Alabama, just to name a few. Lane Kiffin is recruiting lights out because California is one of the most talent-rich states in all America. Plus, USC is a national brand so they can lure recruits from anywhere in the country to come play for them.
Tennessee doesn't have that same luxury.

1. USC wasn't doing so hot before Carroll.
2. Kiffin and Orgeron unquestionably had a role in USC getting where they were under Carroll.

See how many times USC has won their conference.Note the difference in their recruiting ranks and the wide gap between the rest of their conference.
Research John McKay and John Robinson.
Kiffin is a spoiled brat!

I'm not saying they were never good. I'm just saying it's silly to think everyone would win there, becuase multiple guys failed miserably prior to Carroll.

It's a good job because it's easy to win there though.

It's definitely a great job. It's just silly when people claim everyone could recruit as well as he is, because multiple guys clearly couldn't.

You could say that about any job. But still, some jobs are much much easier to win at considering geographic proximity to talent and conference. They are in a great location, recruit nationally, have a lot of ESPN help due to location, and are in a relatively weak conference. It's a great situation.
But I still take a lot of issue with the total bullshite Kiffin spews in that interview. Guy is totally full of shite.

Kiffin stood up to Florida. That is the sole basis of any Vols appreciation for him. Fulmer never would stand up to Spurrier and the Vols loved Kiffin because they didn't want to be the butt of the jokes anymore. Didn't matter that he had no clue what he was doing and was cheating his arse off. They were tired of gettting pushed around by UF. It was the younger fans who think running off at the mouth is cool.
FWIW, most of the older UF fans always wanted Spurrier to STFU. They didn't appreciate his mouth like the younger UF fans.

Sure, but that doesn't mean his recruiting hasn't been outstanding.
