I thought that having the #1 recruiting class in the country every year is what wins championships. Can Smart do that??

Thats 75% of it no doubt.

You can polish a turd and its still a turd. Saban has 5 carat diamonds he's polishing down there.

I'd be happy with Kirby, defensive minded coach, good recruiter, understands the system in culture in place and wouldn't be much turbulence in the switch to the "new system"

It terrifies me, but I think Harbaugh will be there after Saban.

There have been rumblings he likes college better and the 49ers will not sustain that defense for many more years which will be their downfall.

Damn I hope I'm wrong.

unless there is a 100% home run hire like that available, I would rather have kirby than about anyone else. He can not be a good coach and we would still a chance to win a title for a few years after saban is gone as long as there is a smooth transition. I also think KS will make a good coach.

No. Not until he proves himself somewhere else.

Yea, that's what I'd like to see. I'd hate to lose him as DC but I do want to see what he can do when Saban isn't standing over his shoulder.

That's what I see happening as well. It will be such a huge deal when Saban retires and I think they will want to name a coach with some name recognition. As much as I hate to say it there will be some huge shoes to fill and I'm not sure Smart will have a grace period that a new coach would have. My $.02

I was kind of hoping that Smart would get a head coaching job this past year. I'd hate to lose him, but it would be nice to see him prove himself outside of Bama before we'd take that leap.

Probably would have ended up hiring Pruitt instead of UGA having him.

Don't know about Alabama fans, but I would be happy with Mike Dubose 2.0

Can't see Bama handing the keys to a guy who's never been a head coach

And that's exactly what those tards are gonna get by taking a gamble on Smary.

You'd think they would have learned their lesson on taking chances with the unknown by now.

The Smart pumpers were likely swimming around in their father's sack during the dark ages.

I had a long conversation with a complete stranger yesterday after he saw my Auburn shirt and decided that the Lowes parking lot would be a good place for a football conversation. Long story short, we got on the subject of Nick Saban's replacement and he told me that "Kirby Smart will be just as good as Nick because defense wins championships." So what do you think? Would you Alabama fans be happy with Smart taking the reins after Saban retires or goes to Texas?

Yeah, I thought you'd never get that lumber loaded into my truck.

Kirby Smart will be offered the UGA job once Richt is gone, and he will take that job
