You’d be getting 20+ years of Kirby

He’s a very good coach, maybe the best. But we don’t know yet that he will be elite in this unbridled NIL era. I personally think his style doesn’t translate that well going forward, certainly on this 20 year horizon. We shall see.

Alabama fans- if you could go back to 2016 and have Saban pass the torch to Kirby and retire, would you have been for that? Alabama wins title in 2017 and 2020 under Saban, but who knows what it would look like if he’d have gotten the job.

Heck no. Not because it wouldn’t have been great for Bama but because Saban had earned the right to coach as long as he wanted.

No.

The way things turned out, you have two certain national titles under Saban, DeBoer is 2-0 against Kirby, and I think the UA program is in as good a shape as UGA right now.

Your coach doesn't even have hair!

Baldy DeBoer is 2-0 over bowl cut king Kirby, who looks and sounds like Kay Ivey as each minute passes.

Both them bitches, Kay and Kirby, are Wetumpka rats.

Baldy Deboer might last 2 more years at Bama if he doesn't lose to Auburn or Vandy again....

Kept a bulldog once. Sweetest bitch on the planet, but my cichlids lived longer and were more intelligent.

Kirby reportedly took a picture of our recruiting board before he left and tried to use that against us with recruits. Based on how/where they were rated.

This is one of the dumbest message board rumors some Alabama fans have bought into. For people to think he needed a picture of a whiteboard to remember what it was is beyond silly. If it was supposed to be some kind of proof, and her was that devious, he could have just written it on any old whiteboard to show recruits. Yet some Alabama fans will insist it is the gospel truth to this day.

Like taking on Jonathan Taylor? People tend to forget when their own coach makes mistakes. (Yes, Georgia fans included) How about when Saban argued for 1 second to be put back on the clock against Auburn in Kick 6?

It seems especially strange when people would not take him because he does not do well against Alabama when he would not be coaching against Alabama if he were your coach, and he owns Auburn, your biggest rival that Saban struggled with compared to Kirby.

I do understand that his personality is not your cup of tea, but that is how he chooses to motivate the team. Every coach has to have someone on their staff to do that...it was your strength and conditioning coach for awhile....Cochran? But...I get that you prefer your head coach to not do that. But every successful sideline will have someone like that. Years ago it was Erk Russell for Georgia.

I also understand why Tide fans might say yes if it were after Saban retired instead of cutting his tenure short.

Kirby will be at UGA long after Deboer goes back to the West coast.

Alabama fans used to worry about titles. Now they worry about beating Georgia, apparently.

It was not a mistake for Saban to take on Jonathan Taylor. People deserve second chances.

Saban was correct when he argued for the 1 second, so not sure what you are talking about there.

I wouldn't take Kirby because he showed last weekend he lacks integrity. I would have taken him before last weekend.

When you can get 7 years from the best coach of all time you take it period.

Much respect to Kirby, he's outstanding.

But he's where he's supposed to be and I'm good with how it landed and who we have now.
