So much stupidity in this thread.

Secondary's isn't depleted at all. We're upgrading from the two guys we lost.
The secondary is actually a team strength. They really improved the latter half of the season (see OU).

Of course you are.
Funny how when LSU fans say the same thing, everyone laughs it off as being delusional...despite the fact that it happens yearly.
But no, Texas A&M is for realz this time, and stuff.

Whenever any team says it it's delusional.

No, just LSU.
Don't you read the SEC rant?

How in the world does Bridgewater go that high when AJ has nearly the EXACT same measurables and 3 times the resume.

I don't have an opinion on that. I simply said he won't leave early to be the 25th picked prospect.

Granted
But as far as the secondary being better, that's not blind homerism.

We really do expect it to be a team strength. The front 7 on the other hand .... not so much.

Last season, the defensive backfield was young and inexperienced. This fall, there are still young players back there, but it is the most experienced unit on the Aggies' defense. Three of the four starters in the secondary from the AT&T Cotton Bowl are back: Deshazor Everett, De'Vante Harris and Howard Matthews. Junior Floyd Raven has moved from cornerback to free safety and appears to have the skill set (range and tackling prowess) to fit into the position well.

Not me. Chavis will always bring it.

I mean, we were pretty for real last year. LSU beat us and so did UF. But those were both winnable games, primarily because TAMU was "for realz."

All of those youngsters improved dramatically as the season went on as you said.
It's not like the contributors we lost were all conference type guys who went high in the draft. Everett was and is the unquestioned leader in the secondary

Dustin Harris?
Steven Terrell?
Steven Terrell?

We haven't had this many playmakers in the secondary since R.C.
Floyd is a stud. He's just, how do I say ... absent-minded?
If he can get it down upstairs we'll be very pleased with his play.
Shaz is a baller. All-SEC caliber. DeVante improved dramatically. Could see why he was deemed Texas's best cover-corner in the 2012 class.
According to Sumlin, Howard Matthews might have been 2012's most improved player. He'd start for most SEC teams.
What's more, there will be quality, seasoned depth starting in 2014.

Yup. Don't get me wrong, both were solid contributors. But they aren't all world talents and we have some depth in the secondary.

Dustin Harris?
Had a surprisingly decent year. And he was pretty damn good in the latter half.
But let's get real, Harris isn't a crippling loss. He's barely a noticeable one. Good punt returner, though.

Steven Terrell?
Tremendous athlete. Just never really became much of a football player. Huge play against Bama. Good Ag.

That's definitely true. So you guys point is they will be easier to replace because they weren't that great as players. That makes sense.
Posted on 5/9/13 at 2:56 pm to DWag215
I'm hoping with a bigger and different role Raven will see the same improvement Matthews did. Just like Matthews, the physical talent is undeniable

Right. For example, Devante Harris is an infinitely better cover man than Dustin Harris. It's not even close. But he weighs a buck-seventy sopping wet, maybe even 165.
His tackling was a liability. He's gotten better. It will qualify as a major shock if, at the end of the season, we look back and say 2013 Devante couldn't have started over 2012 Dustin.

Out of Jadeveon Clowney's mouth. Richardson is the most difficult OT in the SEC to play against.
CK gets the nod because he's at bama, but he won't be the better pro.
Cyrus is ranked the #1 OT in 2015; Richardson #3. LINK

No AJ? what a joke.
people will always point to our running game and say that is the difference. But AJ doesn't turn the ball over and you can't deny that he's progressed over the last few years.
He'll have a lot more on plate this year considering how much we lost on the O-line. But I look for him to prove the haters wrong...... again.
