A functional autistic person like Mullen just couldn't handle everything changing all at once. It is telling that he still tries to put his name out for NFL jobs but is unwilling to return to college.

He’s is elite as an OC.

Not everyone has the make up to be a head coach. He doesn’t.

Seems to be a big if and quite a lot of uncertainty.

You are correct.

In short, my point is that whoever gets hired next is getting all the resources they need to win at a high level. Napier also received this with his "army" of staff and a newly minted football facility. He just wasn't a very good coach. He was 13-1 in one score games the two years before he got the Florida job and that made a lot of people think he was better than he really was. No one can sustain winning 93% of one score games. He was just lucky.

As a newbie to SEC lore, I enjoy Dan Mullen's commentary on ESPN. He seems like he knows his stuff. I wonder if he will coach again whenever his buyout runs out if it hasn't already.

His buyout was 12 million; 6 million up front and 1 million per year till July 2027. He did not have an offset/mitigation clause as far as I can tell. But, if he did it wouldn't affect much money compared to what he would be getting paid. I think it is somewhat safe to say his decision to not coach college is unrelated to his buyout. He's a really weird dude and most people think he's a total a-hole, but even people who hate him say he genuinely seems to love spending time with his family. He's opted to do that, and I can't blame him.

It’s the natural progression. Missy will never be relevant on a consistent basis it’s in their DNA like Aggy. Losers lose

Kiffin will never be relevant. He’s an overrated coach who’s all hype, with a mediocre all time record and had only one 10 win season before Ole Miss (now he has 3… whoop Dee do).

Has done nothing to earn his reputation as a dangerous coach.
