Whether he leaves or sits tight the fact that there is so much chatter about this is a distraction, one a team fighting through the thick of conference play does not need.
None of this will matter when the teams take the field. Where it shows up is in the pregame preparation and it is not just Lane but his entire staff who would also be affected by this should he opt to go somewhere else.
Maybe we all overstate the case but Sooner fans can attest to what happens when the head coach on the sly is preparing to leave town at the end of the season.
