That's not true. Darrin Horn was successful At Western Kentucky University. It's not his fault that South Carolina has a shitty basketball team. Hell it took Steve Spurrier & Lou Holts to give you winning season. If Kentucky had Steve Suprrier or Lou Holts we would have already won 2 sec championships.

What difference would less seats in Rupp Arena make? The university is after the revenue the luxury boxes would create. Since the city of Lexington owns Rupp UK doesn't control all of the revenue basketball generates there.
And facility upgrade is where UK is falling behind. Because Barnhart isn't schmoozing the corporate community. I think had had all his eggs in the IMG marketing basket....fail.

My point is, the money can be there. You think there isn't money in Central KY? There's a frick load of money there. Problem is no booster is going to donate large amounts to the football program when the AD won't even back it 100%. That may change after this season when Joker gets canned and Barnhart is forced to hire a real coach, but I guess we'll see.

There may have been money there, but like the rest of america, those McMansions were just folks living above their means or depleting trust funds from past wealth. Again, you are looking at an individual booster, and still have not given me a viable corporate one. Where is the big money, and who has it? Short a big corporate sugar daddy the money is not there, and athletic teams have been spoiled by luxury too long to actually cut costs.
Folks forget the expense of building something may be large, but the cost of operating it once it has been built is a serious cost as well.
