To the OP, it's a combination of things. Poor player development. The loss of over half the 2009 class through transfers, injuries, and etc. that have come to full fruition. A change at DC that hasn't been for the better.
The offense is better then last season under Morgan Newton. QB Maxwell Smith is quite a bit better then Newton but was banged up this weekend. We have some guys like former Bama commit Daryl Collins at WR as well as Demarcus Sweat that are good young talent but there's no telling what will happen in SEC play. Our strongest spot is RB, where we go about 3 deep with some talent. CoShik Williams is a solid north/south guy. George has stepped up after Raymond Sanders suspension and was one of the few highlights from the WKU game. The offense is serviceable but is hampered by the worst defense I've seen since Mike Archer on the other side of the ball.
The only two guys worth noting on defense is Bud Dupree and Mister Cobble along the line. We're young and very inexperienced outside of that. Yakety Sax should play when that bunch is on the field and we'll make Driskel look like a Heisman candidate with little to no defensive backfield.
You're basically looking at more of the same when we come to The Swamp. And no one is trying to win one for the Gipper here either.

I just wanted to piggy back of the Arky theme tonight.
I'm not saying a word about our game on Saturday. I've seen too many close calls to get too uppity.
Hopefully, I'll be given the same courtesy during BBall season.

Depends on how nice you can be with Cal still at the helm.
Honestly, we're a program reeling. Arkansas is probably our best shot at a win in the next four games and that's highly doubtful. No streaks ending this year unfortunately.

Do you know if stem cells have been proven to grow new tongues?
If I'm nice to Cal I'll need to definitely know the answer.

Momma always said if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
You could always just take that route. That's being polite without sucking arse.

That' the idea. I won't be saying anything because I'll be biting my tongue in two.

No one's perfect hun.
So tell me bout this Gator team. I obviously know about Gilly (and will never forget about Trey Burton unfortunately) but I didn't get to watch much of your matchup with Tennessee. How's the special teams? Are you going to set a record for blocked punts? (I promise our special teams has gotten a little bit better). Prototypical speed on defense? Weaknesses (to make me feel better)?

Well, it looks like we have finally found a QB. Gilly probably won't play against UK to let him rest his groin. At RB, you'll see a true FR 6'3 230, Mack Brown Jr. who is a mystery to all of us, Omarius Hines (converted WR) and maybe a walk-on.
TE: Jordan Reed and two converted DEs that are new to the position, along with Omarius Hines and Trey Burton (h back really).
OL: We are running the ball well so I'm happy with them.
WR: meh
DL: stout
LB: injury to a starter but the FR replacement is as mean as Spikes and should be our next great LB. His nickname is Tank, Antonio Morrison.
DB: We held CP and Hunter down so they are pretty good not great because of the penalties
ST: Sturgis is money as usual, the punter is young but can boom the ball, Debose has been good but not great at returns
Weaknesses: young QB will still make a mistake here and there I'm sure, RB depth is horrid, TE depth is horrid, WR depth is horrid though the starters have found a way to get a bit done.
UK must find a way to get pressure on JD and make him make some mistakes and stop the run. If we rest Gilly like I think we may have some trouble running the ball like we have unless your LBs and DEs are not very good. Most of our runs have been to the outside.

I actually look for UK to play better in this game. I'm sure that this week has been a real eye opener for the players. If they don't do some soul searching this week, it could get out of hand quick. At this point I don't blame the coaches anymore I'm beginning to question the players commitment to the program and if they really want to take it on their own shoulders and lead the team. If you look at previous teams from the past few years players took it upon their selves to change the perception of the program by going into big games and absolutely pounding the other team. They wanted respect and they played for it. Joker can only do so much for the program its up to the players this week to show how much they care.

Has Brown done anything of note yet? I missed half the aTm game and I don't remember hearing his name called at the BG game, but my seats are garbage so I could've just missed it.

This is what I fear because we just aren't very good at all on the DL or at LB. Cobble may break through occasionally but chances are your boys will double him down and make someone else get the penetration on the line (and there really isn't anyone).
Honestly, I just can't get over how bad our defense is. I know we're Kentucky and all, but it's been awhile since we've seen this one this inept. That whole drive that set up the TD and 2 pt conversion in OT for WKU said it all. Poor tackling, poor form on the line, and guys that can't even figure out how to shift on the line pre-snap. Pretty baffling because Minter has had some pretty good defenses in the past. And at least his defenses at Cincy had some bite.

No. Probably has us confused with his real favorite team or something.

, I think you can review my post history before last week to reveal who my favorite team is Belle. I hope you understand that. UK is not playing very well. They continue to lack fundamental discipline and play uninspired football. If I was joker I would play those who gave the most effort in practice and start shuffling the defense to help prepare us for later in the season. We still have a lot of time to improve. I dont expect us to beat UF but I expect us to come out and compete and push them. The season is not lost by any means.

Mack. I've yet to see him carry the ball.

I enjoyed watching the WKU kick UK's arse. Nothing better than knowing it ruined CatFan81's weekend.

It's going to get far, far worse come this weekend when we our offense gets stifled by a SEC quality defense. So far we've been saved a bit by an offense that is decent enough to overcome the ineptitudes of our defense. That's pretty much out the door in SEC play.

We're not pushing shite with our defense. For all of the reasons I listed above. UK is a program that's flat out reeling right now. And our defense is as bad fundamentally as those Mike Archer defenses that you're probably too young to remember.

Unless Woodyard, Trevathan, Peters, Lumpkin, Jarmon, and Lindley have eligibility left it is. The scary thought is we haven't hit bottom yet. But it's going to be rushing up in a hurry going into SEC play.
And before I get called a pessimist, I've seen this brand of Kentucky Football before. It's the 2-win while in probation kind.
