I wouldn't go quite that far just because the whole sign a frick ton of talent and then tell them to go do athletic stuff with the ball is a lot more effective in basketball than it is in football. In the sense that the game seems to have passed him by and he's just not all that interested in changing much about his approach to it, I think there are certainly similarities. IMO Cal's Arkansas tenure will be more disappointing and expensive than painful and disastrous though. He's not going to set the program on fire and then dump gasoline on it or anything. I just don't see him winning any hardware either.

He is an outstanding recruiter, and an average coach. If he doesn't out talent you, he won't win, and in today's world of NIL and players staying longer in school, it's even harder to do with a young team, and he refused to change his style of recruiting and coaching.

Maybe he will to try to make one more run at winning something, but I think Arkansas fans are going to see really quickly why Kentucky fans lost faith in him. Only time will tell.

Still trying to figure out which group is happier:
Hog Fans
Cats Fans
Nashville Chamber of Commerce

Clearly group in BOLD

When the "Blue Mist" descends on Nashville that is 75K to 150K bump in tourist trade for a week. I have witnessed it on many occasions from the top of some of the tall buildings in Nashville. It is like those ants in Africa or South America when they swarm when seen from above.

Every other fan base in the SEC would be happy to have him as their coach.

Yeah, I don't think so. At least not now. Maybe 10 years ago but not presently.
