Kevin Sumlin chose him. Our fan base was already at a breaking point with him and that then the UCLA game were basically the end. He had a chance to right the Murray/Stidham wrong and fricked it up royally and the large majority of our fans knew it at the time

Although I was split on it because I was afraid Stidham would save his job and delay the inevitable

Jarrett Stidham tried recruiting Texas A&M after leaving Baylor, but Aggies weren’t as interested (NBC Sports)
quote:

“Honestly, [former Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin], he didn’t recruit me too hard,” Stidham said. “I probably tried to recruit myself to A&M a little harder. Just because it was in-state, it was right down the road from where I was there in Waco.”

Texas A&M? Que? Do you mean Kevin Sumlin?

Because our fanbase definitely wanted Stud-ham and we were perplexed and angry that Sumlin didn’t take him.

He came to College Station and begged to play for us.

I went on the record here and stated that Sumlin’s refusal to take Stidam would result in him getting fired. And I was correct.
