Christ. You’ve become what you despise.

I blame it on alcohol.

Hey man, I'm happy that the Whorns packed their stadium to watch Big Dick Joe Burrow sling it all over the field.

It’s a little more than that, but not much. The purpose of Yell Practice is to teach undergraduates the crazy number of Aggie yells, as well as to provide a place for fans to congregate during away games. Not an event for visitors. Have a great weekend!

I don’t know about gay ... but after spending an entire Friday marinating with friends and doing whatever it is they do, it’s a good time for undergrads—particularly those residing on campus—to stumble over to the stadium to get their football on, before meandering back to the bars with their, “We’re gonna beat the hell outta those sumbitches!” attitudes.
Yell is definitely geared more towards freshmen and sophomores. By senior year, everyone is so fully indoctrinated and knows the drill(s) that they typically skip it.
Keep in mind, it’s a tradition that’s 100+ years old.
When the college was a cow pasture with a few hundred cadets, Yell Practice was probably a tad more attractive to the average 18-year-old than it is now.

“You gonna go chase some fine arse college tail in a new College town?”
“No, I’m gonna go to yell practice with some dudes in overalls to make sure I know all the cheers and hand motions for the game”

We happened to see them by walk-ons one year. I thought it’d be like a badass party. No, they were actually practicing their cheers.
My favorite part of away games in college was trying to get laid. Ole Miss and Georgia shout out. Talent errwhere.

It’s like 30-minutes long—and not a requirement for graduation. So if you choose not to go, you won’t be flogged
.
Re: away games ... it almost always takes place in the general entertainment district for which the town is known—for the very reasons you mentioned. No one wants to stop what they’re doing, get in their cars/Ubers, and drive somewhere else. It’s typically a walking distance deal.
Texas A&M is pretty hardcore about maintaining its old traditions; and that certainly isn’t for everyone. It’s one of the reasons we used to chuckle amongst ourselves when A&M was in the nascent stages of talking with the SEC about affiliation, and folks would say to us: “Y’all are going to be so blown away by their [the SEC’s] unique level of tradition!” In reality, we knew y’all would be terrified of ours.
Anyway, fear not! The university is such a behemoth, kids can do their own thing. It’s all good.

Lemme see if I got this straight.
I got a Barner showing up at an Aggie pep rally and posting here. Then the Shorthorn, whose hanging around this board like a fart in an elevator, shows up to complain (brag?) that somebody else’s game has tickets available.
Is this all gay subculture code?

Of course you nutless calves need google map to find the rinkydink stadium in Stillwater your headed to for your yearly arse kicking...and then you only have one game left OU. The rest of the schedule sees the castrates scrimmaging in Lawrence, Manhattan, and Lubbock where they can scream to hundreds in the stadiums..”weeeere back”
