Or when you are quoting someone's post you can just highlight what you want to quote and then click quote. No need to copy and paste.

True, but I was referring specifically to quoting from another page (i.e., a news source, etc.)
Highlighting the person's text whom you're replying to makes it easier to reply faster, say for instance if you want to be the first person to scream "GERMANS" at WhiskeyBent. You need to be in within a few milliseconds around here, so if you're gonna quote him, it's crucial to save a couple of steps.
