They are all over this thread. Yet, you try to modify my statements in order to make them seem somehow less valid in your head. Then regurgitate them as if they were some type of facts?
Is it too much to ask for an intelligent LSU fan to have this discussion with? Apparently so.

Ok look here I haven't accused you of saying jack shite, get your facts straight and reply to the right poster.

if we're discluding the eras that both of our expectations were set

Is your reading comprehension really that bad?
quote:because state doesn't have the athletic budget to sustain that kind of success. it's simple math. where is wichita state these days? it's hard enough for the florida type programs to do that. basketball is a bit of an exception.
And why is that?

Or we hire one of the 10-15 other uber successful MSU alumni in the coaching game throughout college and semi-professional baseball

Are you literally editing out portions of sentences to make it seem like I said something that I actually didn't now?
The response was to another poster who said "If you take out Polk's initial run at State" -- that response was "If you take out Bertman's run at LSU".

and he then proved it at Hoover(twice)

Come on engie... They have like 6 or 7 nattys and state has never even played themselves into a position where winning 2 out of 3 would allow them to hoist the trophy... On top of that, LSU outplayed yall last night... That's why they came back and won... Good luck tonight.

Absolute insanity right here. You obviously don't have a clue about our monetary situation in regards to baseball. We've got earmarked money for baseball to compete with anyone in the country. That's why we have a baseball IPF -- have had a monster stadium for 30 years -- have had indoor cages for 25 years -- have a practice infield -- etc. We are second-to-none on baseball funding -- and you'll see this clearly when we rebuild the same Dudy Noble Field that it took you 25 years to surpass the first time.

This is incorrect.

And we were a rebuilding team that played about 5 freshman position players throughout the year...with zero juniors or seniors in the field.
This is the first fully rebuilt team we've had under Cohen hence how Smoke left you in much better shape than Polk left us -- which is the point I was actually making earlier when somehow it was twisted into "Mainieri gets no credit for that championship team"

Never said they weren't. Nor have I diminished that accomplishment. It's the rantards wanting credit for other stuff that's the issue in this discussion...

MSU made it to the College World Series 8 times, finishing as high as 3rd in 1985.
They didnt play best of 3 back then ? It was just a one game final ?

It was just a pure 8 team double elimination tourney. We won the first 2 and it was us/Texas left in the winner's bracket with Miami/Arky left in the loser's bracket.
