Nope, not even then

Don't pretend like last years O is the norm for LSU offense. Even the JJ years LSU put up points.

Usually because the defense constantly put them in great field position. In 2011 for instance, LSU led the nation in defensive touchdowns and the offense had the shortest average scoring drive of any BCS conference team. IIRC your average starting field position was something ridiculous like your own 39 that year.

In fact, since 2009 LSU has had more scoring drives of 30 or less yards than any other SEC team and other than Bama nobody else is even close.

"Since aTm joined the SEC"

Come on now

Les was winning championships while Sumlin was interviewing for CUSA jobs. Don't forget that football existed before 2012.

Yes let's expand on it.

Sumlin has lost 9 games the last 2 seasons, 6 of those 9 games you guys didnt score 28+ points.

So yeah, Sumlin's offense is hardly steamrolling everyone.

This is much akin to Chavis at LSU. Yes we've had some very very good defenses, but you can certainly point to some flaws in games that we lost. In the end, all that matter is the W/L column.

And Yalls defense hasn't always been a shite show either, so don't try to go down that road.

Our best total defense rank in Sumlin's time here was in the 60s. Chavis hasnt finished that low in total defense in 20 seasons as a DC in the SEC.

LSU is a run first team that would prefer to win with using up clock. Been that way for years. It's the smart move when you have such a talented defense. Let the defense win you games. I don't know where I've denied that.

But when LSU needed to make a switch, they did. Ex 2013.

LSU will win 9+ games this year in similar fashion. You will see.

Because our defense rarely got stops and virtually never gave us great field position.

A&M doesnt lose that Bama game like LSU did because we would have scored a TD from the 5.

Chavis might have bought into DJ Welter being the most improved player for 2013 but Miles and Cameron certainly did not...

The point was that an average defense combined with your phenomenal offense shoukd translate to Ws. Yall have claimed for months that you don't need a top 20 defense to win. Just average. Which is it?

It's hard to get stops when your tired as frick because your offense tried to score as quick as they can. It's a terrible strategy and likely used by plenty of other coaches in recruiting defensive players away from aTm.

Seems like a shitty excuse for an offense that "steamrolls everyone"

You lost 59-0, 59 to freaking nothing. You have no room to even speak.

But you had a good defense last year and lost 5 games. In two of those losees the defense played very well and the offense did nothing.

LSU should have won 9 last year if it were as simple as you say.

And yet, we still would have scored a TD from the five.

And at least we got blanked by an awesome team, you got shut out by a team that hadnt won an SEC game since October 2012.

Well that's unfortunate, but A&M's is still better.

i also think Fournette and the LSU OL are going to skull frick your DL

How much do y'all lose on the OL? Collins was an anchor. 3 year starters on the offensive line that had first round draft grades, and ones that were named to Freshman All-American and other All-American teams as a junior, aren't replaced... unless it's by someone of similar experience and talent, and if someone like that is sliding over, y'all don't replace him that easily. Trust me on this, as A&M has had far more first round talent recently on the offensive line than y'all have ever had.

I never said it was simple. I've actually said numerous times that LSU was very young. Second youngest in the SEC. Our best player on offense was an 18 year old running back in the SEC west.

My point is that the LSU offense has been successful because it gives the defense time to get fresh. Les doesn't want to go out and score on the first play down field. Or the 10th even.

Your defense was still ranked much higher than your offense that year.

This myth has been debunked with stats so many times it isnt worth addressing anymore. Its effectively become the rants equivalent of a creationist argument.

In short, Chavis almost never had an elite TOP offense at Tennessee or LSU and mutilple times has fielded elite units with bad TOP offenses.
