The only "buzz in ole college station" is coming from your faggie anal vibrators. Only an goddamn aggie would talk shite about a team that has owned you with that dumb arse wanker thug you have for QB. Sit down, shut up, and accept you mediocrity. Remind me, how many times has Johnny Douchebag got you to the SEC championship game?

Dude spent NYD partying with Drake at his private party at SET in Miami after y'alls bowl. If he comes back it will be to the detriment of your entire football program bc I'm fairly positive ALL kinds of NCAA violations were not just broken but smashed to freakin' pieces.
ETA: Those NCAA Violations obviously would only be relevant IF he does not declare for the draft.

He's been partying since the day he set foot on campus, though

How so? Not against the rules to go out and party with Drake.

Come on Tbird...are you familiar with SET nightclub? It costs a small fortune to get in, and I'm sure there was some money dropped on him at some point in that trip. My point was that I believe he most likely will declare for the draft, but in typical JFF fashion, he is waiting for all of the other draft declaration hoopla to clear before he declares himself. Then all eyes are on him, again, singularly.
What are your thoughts on him declaring vs. staying? What does he have to gain by staying another year? He won't have the same go-to guy bc he has already declared. Sure, some other receiver could step up, but his performance this year was not equal to his performance his frosh year. Late in this past season he seemed to even get flustered at times. I'm certainly not discounting his talent and his uncanny ability to make plays out of what should have been no-gains or, even more often, loss of gain plays. But if he stays, he risks falling in the draft, injuries, other qb's entering the scene that overshadow him, etc, etc,...so why stay?
ETA: It was Drake's private party at SET so obviously Drake rented out the entire nightclub; hence no covercharge or entry fee. But still.....flight to Miami, meals, etc. When Jadaveon Clowney met with Jay-Z, there was all this talk surrounding that trip and the NCAA cleared JD bc he had paid for everything on his own and was able to prove it.

Jonathan Manziel seemed to do aight without having taken a single collegiate snap. Your logic doesn't really apply.
Big fricking difference between a true freshman and a redshirt freshman. The period between a young male's first year at college and his 2nd year produces the most significant changes in not just his body but also his QB and football knowledge than any other time in his life -- the transition from HS to college is far more difficult than the transition from college to the NFL.
There's a reason a RS freshman NOT a true freshman was the first to win a Heisman and as of this writing not a single True Frosh has even been in serious contention. Programs don't play them unless they have to -- even Peyton Manning wasn't played until 2 (maybe 3) others were injured and we were left with no choice but to play him as true frosh and even he was less than impressive that year.

No, I am not.

You do realize he comes from money, correct? Serious money.

This sentiment speaks more to your dislike of JFF than anything, tbh. There have been plenty of chances he could have tried to steal the spotlight lately if that were truly his intention. I'm not saying he's a saint, but let's not pretend that he'll be damned for his timing no matter when.

I believe he is gone. Have said so since before this past year began, actually.
quote:
He won't have the same go-to guy bc he has already declared.
Irrelevant. Swope (his go-to guy in 2012) left and he did just fine. When defenses keyed on Evans, he found a former women's basketball walk on (Travis Labhart WR #15) for outstanding production.

his performance this year was not equal to his performance his frosh year.
His numbers were better nearly across the board this year compared to last, actually.

Late in this past season he seemed to even get flustered at times.
Anyone would get flustered with the pressure of having to score because the defense couldn't stop a herd of puppies from going for 500 yards rushing
Plus, you do realize he was playing hurt (injury to his throwing hand) from the Mississippi State game onward, correct?
quote:

Again, I think he's gone. For many of the reasons you stated, actually. I don't believe he's NFL-ready as of yet, but that is one con in a world of pros for declaring.

I'm pretty sure Manziel would be exonerated in much the same manner if he came under such scrutiny. Douchebag or not (and he is, I won't lie), he comes from money and has never been afraid to flaunt/spend it.

Your point? Kenny Hill won't be a freshman next year.

Adrian Peterson finished 2nd in the Heisman voting as a true freshman. The main reason he didn't win was freshman bias.

Yeah..what in the world is the story behind this one? I heard the announcers mention this a couple of times during the game and I'd love to hear the story!

I do not dislike him. I stated previously I admired the way he was always able to make something out of even the most seemingly less-than-nothing play. As a QB, I have never seen anything like him and I doubt I ever will again in my lifetime. His natural abilities far outweigh anything that could ever be taught. As for his "showboating"...yeah, I'll admit it became a little much as the years progressed. Albeit, his freshman year was much worse in that aspect than his sophomore year was in my opinion. However, it does not mean that I dislike him. I don't know him so I make no personal judgements concerning him as a person. All I know of him is what I've seen on the field and what I've heard of him off of the field. None of that adds up to sufficient substance to develop any kind of personal like or dislike.

Paraphrasing horribly, of course, but the skinny is he was a non-scholarship athlete who helped the Aggie women practice en route to their national title in 2011, then walked on to the football team. He is a remarkable fellow, and very humble. Came out of nowhere when we needed him most!

I have the utmost respect for walk-ons. Our FG kicker, Elliott Fry, was a walk on until this past week when he was finally placed on a scholly. A much deserved one, as well. They literally give their all only for the honor of being suited in the University's uniforms, basically. They have to scratch and claw their way up the ranks, truly earning their spot on the team. I wish more of our regular scholly guys knew the fortitude and dedication that walk-ons display for little or no payback at all for all of their hard work.

And for all his faults as a person, he has at least remained true to who he is even as his fame has skyrocketed, when many might have tried to change, so I will give him credit for that even though as an alum I of course would selfishly love for every headline about him to be above reproach.
I can absolutely respect that. It seems that, lately, we have been extremely fortunate on our team in that we haven't had any one player that intentionally sought the attention of the media, etc. Some may argue Clowney did so with Jay-Z, but at the time he was heavily considering signing with Jay-Z's sports management agency after his collegiate career was over. We've been fortunate to have players like Lattimore, Shaw, Thompson, Davis, etc. whose only desire was to further South Carolina football and to do so in an admirable manner. Besides, our players rarely have reason to say anything out of the way to the media, our coach takes care of issuing the verbal spars quite nicely all by himself! LOL!

Good thing he's a kicker instead, huh?
We call him "Small Fry"...and when he kicks, it's referred to as a "Fish Fry" bc the holder's last name is Fish.

Love stories like that
My little brother was a walk on his first couple years at A&M. No longer on the team, but I saw firsthand the blood, sweat, and tears he and the other walk-ons went through, like you said, for the honor of wearing their school's jersey. It's uplifting and humbling. That's the reason the 12th Man tradition is held so dear to Aggies.

In my opinion it is one of the most honorable and highly respected traditions in all of college football. I've always been fascinated with the tradition and once I learned the true meaning of the 12th Man Tradition my fascination became accompanied by awe.
