Tenneessee - UK was on JP because it was really the only SEC matchup left at the end of the year. Other games were played on Thursday and Friday or teams had in state out of conference games.

A few years ago, they switched Vandy to the Sat after Thanksgiving. Prior to that it was Kentucky the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

LSU-Ark was Friday
Ole Miss-Miss State was Thursday
UGA-GT
USC-Clemson
Florida-FSU
Vandy would play Wake Forest or some shite.

Auburn-Alabama would be the CBS time slot

Maybe for some. All my cooking was done on the grill at 4am or cooked in the kitchen the night before. Except for Breakfast. It was done around 6am to take to the tent.

SEC on TBS intro, circa 1987

LINK

No Aggies, MizzouSJWs, Cocks, or Hogs.

Colonel Reb still proudly displayed.

Alabama front and center with the TBS/SEC logos.

LSU's kickoff returns still sucked.

"Big man on big man."

A phrase uttered on JP quite a bit during the Shula years on the goal line...and many times Bama still didn't score no matter how big our guys were.

Dave Rowe would say "The quarterback threw a dart !" or "He throws it on a dart !" About 10-12 times a game.

The Three Daves were fun as hell to listen too. "Threw a dart" "big man on big man"... they were corny but by God they loved their football and got into the games.
