Eh, I don't want to ruin their rivalry either. TSO is important to them.

That puts Missouri in the East and Tennessee in the West.
:pullsoutmap:
That don't work.

The whole point of this is that we lose the cross-divionals, though...

Yes, but I want to keep our rivalry with UGA AND UA. I don't want to give either of them up personally.

Mississippi's almost as bad as LSU/Arky with this whole "rivalry" concept.

It's not a rivalry when half of the fans are more worried about what to wear to the game than who wins.

i have no idea, that's what makes this even worse

the iron bowl is too important to ruin but this game really is too, not on the same level but i don;t think i am too biased when i say this is one of college football's best traditions, like the WLOCP. no one would give a rats arse outside of GA if UGA and GT stopped playing but lose UF or AU and you are doing a disservice for college football

i really rather just bite the bullet and move to 9 conference games and keep a locked interdivisional opponent
quote:

sandman

stupid right? and i agree, they haven't the slightest idea. meanwhile AU is interlocked in some of the more volatile rivalries and georgia's are steeped in tradition, booze and the fact we really do piss off a lot of other fan bases. if we played all the teams that at one point have been considered rivals we'd be like notre friggin dame

who outside the states of TN or AL give a rats arse? it's a rivalry that is pissy based of events from decades ago and your coach being a rat

Right, because everyone around the country stops whatever they're doing to watch Georgia/Auburn.

certainly more so than Bama/UT. UGA/AU is a series that goes back to either school's first season ever, it is separated by only a couple games. it is so close AU leads the series but UGA has more points

also both schools have been relevant for a better part of 2 decades and one side doesn't just continually steam roll the other

don't get me wrong, i love to point out why i think UGA anything is better but really neither of us should have to give it up, regardless of which is better

Maybe when both Georgia and Auburn are much better than either Bama or Tennessee. Historically, the UT/Bama rivalry has been bigger, and it's really not even that close.

Bama/UT is the SEC, fwiw. Bear and Neyland, houndstooth and checkerboard endzones. Nearly 40 combined SEC titles, and numbers 1 and 2 in practically every category in the SEC.

To drop that is bullshite. I don't think they CAN drop the Iron Bowl, didn't the state mandate that game?

If we don't move to a 9 game schedule, like I said, we have to options.
1. Schedule each other as OOC games every year
2. Move AU to the East and TN to the West.

I don't think the UGA game is as important as the Iron Bowl, but it's really damn close imo. I don't think The Iron Bowl, The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry or TSO should be touched. They need to remain in place. Those are the three best rivalries this conference has and I might take a pitchfork to the SEC HQ and protest if they do away with them.

We've done it once and we can do it again, All it takes is discussing how much to pay players

Probably the ideal scenario, but you gotta think that Slive's planning on going to 16 and most of this will probably work itself out if we do.

I'm already mad enough about playing UF so infrequently, throwing y'all on top of that basically ruins most of college football for me. It's like, all of our traditional rivals, save UA, are in the East. I have no emotional attachment to the LSU game, the Mississippi schools are a laughing stock, and I'm not particularly fond of playing Arky every year because that means when it's away, that's one game that I'm guaranteed to be sitting on my couch for.

UGA, UF, UT, and USC are all relatively close, and UK and VU aren't that bad themselves. The only one that would suck going to is MU.

Now, it's like Arky and A&M are effectively no-go's, LSU is like an 8 hour drive, and why in the world would I want to drive to Mississippi?

It must get under your skin, or you wouldn't have took the time to reply. The numbers are what they are. There's 2 teams from the SEC that are Top 10 in wins and win percentage. That's the way it is.

That's your opinion, not a damn fact.

TSO is an important rivalry but it's not "the rivalry". Get over yourself.
