This was pretty obvious in my opinion. The guy didn't even declare until 20 minutes before the deadline. I think he was just trying to buy himself some time and get a couple of evaluations from pro scouts.
I think he could be the NCAA's Defensive Player of the Year next year (if they actually give out that award).

And the 07 08 season when he got SEC defensive player of the year he could have been considered for it.
He was in the shadows of Thabeet... but.. he had more blocks and was better offensively.

I don't know about all that. Neither guy was an offensive force but Thabeet had better numbers.

On a side note, Thabeet did get two more rebounds a game than Varnado. Either way, Varnado is a beast and this was big for MSU.

Varnado has get exponentially better each season offensively.
