I know in baseball you have to learn to play in varying parks, but I don't understand why they would want to play the national championship in a stadium that is so much larger and different than just about any other stadium used in the college game.
TD Ameritrade is only 8 feet deeper straightaway center than Hawkins Field (Vandy's home field) and 5 feet deeper in RF. Due to a wonky outfield wall shape, Hawkins Field and TD Ameritrade are actually the same to RCF and LCF. The Hawk is much shorter to LF but has the tall wall.
It's really more about prevailing wins than anything. It's not THAT much bigger. Sure, the dimensions alone would keep some HRs in the park but not to the extent that we see with the winds. I'm not sure how Hawkins field compares to most other college parks though.

No, I’m proposing acknowledging that a Super division already exists and to give the haves an opportunity to use the money to educate and train more students rather than dumping it into coaching salaries and frivolous building projects

quote:. You do realize Alabama and Mississippi both are without lottery scholarships. Maybe the reason bama baseball sucks is same reason it’s difficult for us to get farther. Alabama and Mississippi are the only two states in the sec that play by the ncaa rules regarding baseball scholarship limitations.
Sometimes you suck just because you suck (as Bama has done in baseball the last few years) and not because the rules give someone else has a massive advantage.

The proposal isn’t to make scholarship numbers and an extra assistant a requirement, though. It’s to simply give teams that want to spend the money an option to spend it that simply isn’t allowable at the moment.
